Yes, you can use an index.php page.

Upload the index.php and delete the index.html via ftp or cpanels filemanager should do the trick I believe..

Thanks for the warm reception everyone. The forums you provide are awesome. I just finished "upgrading" my site from .htm/.html to straight .php and used the tutorials SureFire created to utilize a .php header and footer for the site.

Renaming my old index.html to oldhtmlindex and then just dropping in a index.php worked like a charm.
