Hi, I'm creating several picture galleries. I'm wondering what the best way might be to do it. Now, I'm using frames set up in three sections. Along the right are the thumbnails that, when clicked will display the photo in the larger frame to the left. Along the bottom is the Navigation Bar listing the various galleries available.

For example, you would click on Vacation on the Nav Bar and go to a gallery of just vacation pics set up as explained above. Then you could click on Wedding in the Nav Bar and go to that gallery, etc.

Is that the best way to do this? Is there an Autostretch for Frames?

Thanks for any help!

Welcome to the forums. Is this something you are doing yourself or is it a software package? Have you checked out any of the software found here?

Hi, I'm doing it myself. I like the idea of making it from scratch. I'm learning Dreamweaver and it seems to have everything neccesary to create a Gallery or anything else for that matter. It seems very power so I'd like learning and using it for all aspects of a site. Dreamweaver has it's Picture Gallery maker that can be use if you have Fireworks. I'm trying to make something original though.

Thanks for any help!

Yankman30,

Welcome to the forums. Though I am not a fan of frames, you can work it that way if you wish and it should serve you for what you are doing. I have not tried something of that nature so I cannot say if there is a better way or not.

Thanks for all your welcomes!

It seems most people don't like Frames. Is there another way to have a thumbnail button open a photo in a different area of the same page?

Thanks again!

I know you mentioned that you are doing this yourself with Dreamweaver, but if you will check out Arles Web Page Creator, version 6, at www.digitaldutch.com, you will see that it will allow you to do exactly what you are describing. It will set up nested galleries with a main navigation page. Then each gallery can be edited to have the layout as you wish.
