Hi - I am new to web hosting. BUilding a small site for a small business I have.

Set up hosting last night. This morning I uploaded a quickie index.html file to teh public folder just to have something up to see. When I go to http://www.mysite.com I end up in the /index view. If I refresh I see the index file I uploaded. Is this just due to the fact that everything has not kicked in?

If I go to my IP per the email I received, I get the index page everytime.

Just curious. Great forums and lots of helpful posts made me choose TCH

Thanks for having me.

I can see the index page just fine. Either propagation or caching issues.

I'm guessing that your site isn't really "mysite.com", but that you used "mysite.com" as a place holder for your site name.

Feel free to post your real site name to the forum, and we will see what happens when we view it.

And, BTW, welcome to TCH and to the TCH Family Forums!! You made a good choice in coming to TCH!!

Well, he didnt post his domain name but I figured it out. I will not post it though in case he wants to keep it private for now. If he wants to post it he can.

My previous post was a hint.

Welcome to the forums and family coloroadoairphoto. If you just signed up, it can take up to 72 hours for your domain name to propagate. (However, I have seen it take a LOT less time than that!) Wait for about a day and see what happens.

And by the way, stop by the introduction section and say hi to everyone in your new family. :surrender:

since you just updated your DNS today,

it may take a while for it to settle down.

But it resolves for me in Michigan just fine.
