recuerda Posted May 4, 2005 Posted May 4, 2005 Every time I try to LIST in my account via FTP I get an error that says "bind: Address already in use" I can log in just fine but cannot LIST any directory. I have tried ensuring that I am in passive mode but no luck. Since the Help Desk can log in just fine, they aren't much help. Any ideas? Quote
Guest Serpentine Posted May 4, 2005 Posted May 4, 2005 Just guessing here. Are you behind a router? Is there more to the wording of that error? Can you give a couple of lines before and after that error? Just curious till someone with a bit more knowhow comes along. Quote
TCH-Bruce Posted May 4, 2005 Posted May 4, 2005 Welcome to the forums, recuerda Have you tried another FTP client? Quote
recuerda Posted May 4, 2005 Author Posted May 4, 2005 I am behind a router, a netgear mr814v2 to be exact. FTP was working fine for a long time. I have tried different clients but this was the most useful error message as the other clients just say that the connection timed out. The line just before it is "500 Illeagal PORT command" follwed by "bind: Address already in use." It worked right up until I put a redirect of my level 0 from www.dunphy.info to dunphy.info/family. I can't think of any reason that these would be related but it was right after that I experienced this issue. The other thing is that it is only at home and not anywhere else. Really weird. Hope this helps clarify, thank for any ideas. Just guessing here. Are you behind a router? Is there more to the wording of that error? Can you give a couple of lines before and after that error? TCH-Thomas Posted May 4, 2005 Posted May 4, 2005 I searched this and found a few places that discuss this (I think), see if this is similar to your case: https://lists.netfilter.org/pipermail/netfi...rch/059377.html Quote
recuerda Posted June 2, 2005 Author Posted June 2, 2005 I checked those articles out but that all seem to deal with server side issues which your Help Desk seems to think it is not since it works everywhere else but my home. Another other ideas as to why I am experiencing this? TCH-Andy Posted June 2, 2005 Posted June 2, 2005 can you paste the log file for the FTP (crossing out any private info) Quote
TCH-Rob Posted June 2, 2005 Posted June 2, 2005 Also, just for testing purposes, what happens if you bypass the router altogether? Just your one computer connected to the Internet with nothing between it to interfere with any packets. Quote
