I want to review the archived March file, but I am unable to open even after downloading the .gz file. I must be doing something wrong, so any advice would be appreciated (the more complete the advice, the better the appreciation).

The .gz extension is a compressed archive and you can open it with WinZip or some other compatible software.

The file compressed inside is a pure text file and will be your domain name. You can open that file with any text viewer like Notepad.

Thanks, I was able to see the text in Notepad. Two questions:

1. Is the text file all that is available?

2. Do you, or anybody reading this, have a way to convert the text file to a reader friendly format?

When you say friendly format what do you mean. If you look at the AwStats in cPanel they are in a friendly format.

If you want something like that on your computer, google for "web log analyzer" or something similar.

Yes, I'd like the archive to look like what is reported for the current month, rather than lines of text. I'll try your search recommendation.

Found a program that works well - www.weblogexpert.com. I downloaded the full version for a 30 day trial. They also have a free version.

Get webalizer, it's free and pretty easy to setup but also fairly customizable.

I used it on my sites for years when I was hosting them myself.
