I thought something was wrong with the site/server/webserver.

I point to my cpanel URL using Mozialla 1.7.5 on XP Pro.

It takes many minutes for the cPanel page to load. Close to 10 min. Trying to navigate from one page to another? Another 5 min +, depending on the page. :P

OK. Let's try Mozilla on Suse 9.0 & Mozilla 1.4.2. No problem. :)

OK. Let's try IE 6.0 on XP Pro. No problem. :P

Anyone else seen this behavior? :)

Did I forget to burn the correct insense? Do I need to sacrifice a virgin? Wear garlic?

Strange indeed that it would be slow on one program and not the other. By chance are you using http or https? I had the same issue using http with XP. Went to https, no problem!

Just a tho't!

Welcome to the forums, Drub!

I'm using Mozilla Firefox with WinXP Home and my CPanel loads fine. If your CPanel consistently loads slow specifically with Mozilla and WinXP, that would suggest to me that maybe there's a config setting out of whack in the WinXP install of Mozilla, but it's difficult to know for sure.

Good thought! Worth a try. I didn't think to try it.

Alas, no luck. In fact, it eventually times out with an "unexpectedly terminated" message. Oh well.

Thanks!

Welcome to the forums, Drub!

I use Firefox myself, as do many of the forum folks, so I can't address the specifics but it does sound to me that it may be a setting. I'd be real surprised if it did fine in Firefox and not in Mozilla and if that were the case I'd look to the individual install rather than the cPanel as the source of the problem.

Is it possible to do a fresh install of Mozilla or would that be a major pain? It may reset the errant setting if you could.

Since it still timed out, (and only using Mozilla 1.7.5) I would tend to agree with Jim. Sounds like a setting specific to that particular version of Mozilla.

P.S. It's getting warmer here in Orlando...bring on summer! :) Oh, and welcome to the forums!

Welcome to the forums Drub :thumbup1:

I like forefox for cpanels, as I have several and it seems to remember the logins better than IE.

(please stop telling me about warm weather just yet,

I still have snow on the ground :tchrocks: )

Oh, yeah. I neglected to mention the Firefox part of the story. Firefox 1.0, XP Pro

Identical behavior to Mozilla. Veeeeeeeeerrrrrrrrrrrry sloooooooow.

Minutes to paint a screen. Often, some screen elements are missing.

This is *why* I thought it was cPanel. Had the problems with Mozilla, went to Firefox and had the same problems. Wonder if the 2 browsers share some configuration parameters ..... That would seem pretty screwy to me. 2 different installs should be independent of each other.

Thanks to all for your thoughts on this matter.

My current thoughts, and plans ....

Try re-installing Mozilla. I think it a long shot, but is easily enough accomplished.

If that does not work, try reinstalling Firefox too. See if I can get *any* behavior change.

If that doesn't work, I'll just make a note not to use the XP box for cPanel! Nope, not going to IE for tasks other than testing. :thumbup1: Pfffffffftttthhh

Maybe I'll install Opera, or some other. Lot's of good browsers.

Thanks for all your comments. Was hoping someone would respond with "Yeah, we've heard of that one. Just change this setting, and ... ", or something else easy. Ah, well ... Next time.

TCH has certainly been a positive experience so far! :clapping:

Welcome to the forums, Drub! :)

As for your problem, try backing up your profile directory and then delete it (the original one, not the backup :P). Then run Mozilla again and it will create a new profile for you. Try cPanel again and see if it works ;)
