I have transferred a site to TCH but the database is still on the old server. I don't have CPanel on the old server, but do have the phpMyAdmin interface to the database.

I'm trying to figure out how to answer all of the questions on the export screen so that I can import the database structure and the table (it's only one table) into phpMyAdmin thru Cpanel here. I'm at a total loss how to do this. Could someone give me step-by-step instructions? Or should I open a help ticket?

Thanks,

Hi Miriam,

Is there a way to do a complete backup of youe mySQL database on your other server? If so, that's the easiest way.

If not, then go into phpmyAdmin, select the database - and then select the Export tab.

Click on Select All (to select all tables), make sure structure and data are both ticked, and the 'save as file' option at the botom. It will then download a complete copy of the database for you.

Once you have done that, upload the file to the root directory on the sever here, and open a help desk ticket - we will upload it into mySQL for you (which is probably easier than you uploading in phpmyAdmin.

Hi Andy,

Thank you for your help. I managed to export the file ok from the old server. I had some trouble importing it into the new database, I think the old version of mysql and the version running on TCH are different, so it gave me an error message.

I finally managed to get the structure uploaded into the new database, then managed to bring the data over.
