David1776 Posted March 22, 2005 Posted March 22, 2005 I found the earlier disscussion on password protection of a website extremely useful. I'm not sure if this is the proper etiquette to address a topic from several months back The original topic was Aug. 6. The link is: http://www.totalchoicehosting.com/forums/i...showtopic=12046 I moved three test htm files from the public folder to a subfolder (using cpanel file manager). In the public folder I created a link to the index.htm file in the subfolder. Then I used the Password protect directories in cpanel to password the subfolder. Thank you to Don and Bruce for those suggestions. This worked except the files lost their Frontpage 2002 themes in the subfolder. Are there other files or folders I need to add to the subfolder? Thanks for any suggestions! Quote
TCH-Bruce Posted March 22, 2005 Posted March 22, 2005 Welcome to the forums David You will have to change all the links in those pages to point to the theme folder. It's been a long time since I've played with FrontPage to give you the correct information. Quote
David1776 Posted March 22, 2005 Author Posted March 22, 2005 Thank you Bruce. I'm not sure what you mean to change the links to point to the themes folder though. For instance, the index.htm file in the _public folder has the correct theme. How do I find out how it is linked to the proper themes folder? Quote
TCH-Bruce Posted March 22, 2005 Posted March 22, 2005 Can you provide a link and I can show you. Quote
David1776 Posted March 22, 2005 Author Posted March 22, 2005 Please forgive a stupid question. Do you mean you want a link to my web site? Quote
TCH-Bruce Posted March 22, 2005 Posted March 22, 2005 David, this might be a simpler solution for you. In the section of your pages in your password protected folder add the following: ><base href="http://www.your-tch-domain.com/" /> That should make everything appear correctly. Quote
David1776 Posted March 22, 2005 Author Posted March 22, 2005 Thank you Bruce. I was just called out and now I have to run out the door, so I'll have to contain my suspense to see if I can make that work! Quote
David1776 Posted March 22, 2005 Author Posted March 22, 2005 Dear Bruce, It works! Thank you again. For others I should also mention that I needed to modify the links from pages in the subfolder to go down a level from the base folder (which is public_html). For instance: <A HREF="/subfolder name/filename.htm"> --David Quote
