iconocoustica Posted February 13, 2005 Posted February 13, 2005 Hi, My e-mail account has been infected with a virus. I get 30-40 e-mails a day saying an e-mail has been returned that I never sent. Also, it is supposedly being sent by an e-mail address that I deleted months ago. Can anyone suggest how I can check for the virus and disinfect it from my e-mail account? Thanks. TCH-Bruce Posted February 13, 2005 Posted February 13, 2005 Sounds more like your email address has been spoofed. This happens to everyone eventually. If you are running virus protection, know your machine is not infected and you did not send the messages then you will just have to wait out all the bounces you are about to receive. Quote
TCH-Don Posted February 13, 2005 Posted February 13, 2005 It may not be you, it sounds like someone that had your address is infected. These type of e-mail virus send to everyone in the address book of the infected computer. I get the same thing from my sister a few years ago, I had to filter my family address for a while. Look at the e-mail headers to see where the e-mail is coming from. Quote
Madmanmcp Posted February 13, 2005 Posted February 13, 2005 As others have said, you don't have a virus...others do. To scan your computer go here: http://housecall.trendmicro.com/ Quote
