oogie Posted February 12, 2005 Posted February 12, 2005 I am getting ready to o my update from an older version of phpBB to the newest version, but I have MANY mods running on my forum. Is it posible to upload the PATCH file, and run the update through a CRON job? In the phpBB instructions, it gives a command : patch -cl -d [phpBB DIRECTORY] -p1 < [PATCH NAME] If anyone can let me know if this is possible, i would be in your debt, and I am sure many others would be as well. Also, if this is possible, if someone could post an example of the command line with exact directory locations, it would be a huge help as well. Thanks Quote
TCH-Bruce Posted February 12, 2005 Posted February 12, 2005 Hi oogie and welcome to the family. If you cannot get the patch to run from a cron job, you can upload the patch file and then open a support ticket with the help desk and give all the information they would need to run it for you. Quote
TCH-Don Posted February 12, 2005 Posted February 12, 2005 Welcome to the forum oggie I don't use phpbb, but before upgrading be sure to make a backup of your site and database. use cpanel > backup click on home directory backup to download a compressed backup of your site and below that download your database. That way if the upgrade goes bad you can upload the home backup and database to get back to where you were. I am sure there will be others here soon that can offer help or advice on the cron method. stevevan Posted February 12, 2005 Posted February 12, 2005 Welcome oogie! I second the backup idea (speaking from experience here). They are ALWAYS valuable! Quote
