chroniker Posted February 4, 2005 Posted February 4, 2005 I am trying to >/mt/mt-check.cgi< and I'm getting: Content-type: text/html <HTML><HEAD> <TITLE>500 Internal Server Error</TITLE> </HEAD><BODY> <H1>Internal Server Error</H1> <pre> Unable to open document (./mt/mt-check.cgi) at cpsrvd.pl line 1056 main::dodoc_cpaneld() called at cpsrvd.pl line 449 main::dodoc() called at cpsrvd.pl line 377 </pre><hr> <address>cpsrvd/9.9.8 Server at 72.9.xxx.xxx</address> </BODY></HTML> On the chance that it was because the HTML::Template library was not installed, I went and looked and found that it was there. Am I correct in assuming that this is because I have not pointed my name server over here yet? Quote
LisaJill Posted February 4, 2005 Posted February 4, 2005 500 errors usually happen for one of two reasons (or both): 1) File not uploaded in ASCII 2) File not set to 755 permissions Have you checked both of these? Quote

As for uploading in ASCII, the file is as it was when the tarball was unpacked. How do I check this? Quote
TCH-Bruce Posted February 4, 2005 Posted February 4, 2005 If it was a tarball you shouldn't have to worry about whether or not it was transferred in ASCII. Sorry, can't be of more help. Quote

borfast Posted February 4, 2005 Posted February 4, 2005 chroniker, a .tar.gz file is commonly refered to as a tarball. I believe Bruce was saying that if you uploaded the tarball to your account and uncompressed it there, you don't need to worry about whether or not it was transferred in ASCII. But if you decompressed the file on your computer and then uploaded the resulting files and directories to your account, then that could be the problem. It should have nothing to do with the nameserver. Quote

Unfortunately I am not where I can tell you where it is. A Quote
TCH-Bruce Posted February 4, 2005 Posted February 4, 2005 It is possible that the tar archive may have been corrupt but there is no way of knowing that. Even though the support desk will not install/support 3rd party software they may be able to have a look and see what the cause of problem is. Quote

chroniker Posted February 4, 2005 Author Posted February 4, 2005 Report the 500 error and where you are receiving it. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Ok, I'm where I can work on this. Can I post the info here in the clear or should I PM a tech? Quote
TCH-Bruce Posted February 4, 2005 Posted February 4, 2005 You already posted the info here didn't you? First post above. I was suggesting asking support to have a look at it. Quote

TCH-Bruce Posted February 5, 2005 Posted February 5, 2005 Glad that it's now working. What was the problem if I may ask? It may save someone else some time later. Quote
chroniker Posted February 6, 2005 Author Posted February 6, 2005 Glad that it's now working. What was the problem if I may ask? It may save someone else some time later. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I spoke too soon and I hope that I never have to do this again. I'm following the instructions found here - totalchoicehosting.com/help/id76.htm After a couple of reinstalls and messing with permissions I am able to progress to Step 5 "Run MT-Load Utility". When I do, I get - Bad ObjectDriver config: Connection error: Access denied for user: '@localhost' (Using password: YES). Obviously I used a stronger pw when setting up the MySQL db and I have put the pw in mt-db-pass.cgi Also, I have checked my errorlog and found - Premature end of script headers: /home/demesne/public_html/mt/mt-load.cgi and Premature end of script headers: /home/demesne/public_html/mt/mt-check.cgi Anybody here have any ideas on what I'm doing wrong? By the way, being a newb, I was not aware that cgi's are exicutable and after reading where six apart says to set permissions to 755 on all cgi's I was able to make it to step 5. You may want to see about including this in your install instructions. Quote
