Singer Posted April 14, 2003 Posted April 14, 2003 What support do you have for streaming audio? I would like to put up some files (self-created and permission obtained!). Quote
boxturt Posted April 14, 2003 Posted April 14, 2003 I have both (original) streaming mp3 and Real Player files on my site so I know that at least those are supported. Knowing how well rounded and plentiful the features are here I'm sure many formats are supported Quote
Singer Posted April 14, 2003 Author Posted April 14, 2003 Good to hear! What do I need to enable the streaming capability? For instance, the other day, I used Real Audio's Helix Producer Basic 9 to create a multi-speed streaming file, but I don't know what I need to do in my web pages to let it stream for the user. After I uploaded the file, I tried to access it (simple ... reference) and it started downloading, which I guess isn't too surprising. Quote
boxturt Posted April 14, 2003 Posted April 14, 2003 Type the following as plain text (don't click on this): http://209.51.142.186/~YourDomain(eg:~boxt...rt)/YourFile.rm and save it as a .ram file and code your link to point to that .ram file. I think there are a couple ways to do this as Real Media has a couple different extensions depending on audio or visual but hopefully this points you in the right direction Quote
Singer Posted April 14, 2003 Author Posted April 14, 2003 Hmmm...I may be missing something, Boxturt. I set up a page with links using the following without success, getting a 404 error (the file is at the root of the public_hml directory): http://209.51.142.186/~csochoir/test.rm http://209.51.142.186/~csochoir/public_html/test.rm Any thoughts? P.S. I like your music! I took a trip out to your site and listened to some of it. Quote
boxturt Posted April 14, 2003 Posted April 14, 2003 Thank you very much And I owe you an apology, i told you sort of backwards - try this: Set up the .ram file as I instructed. Be sure it is the ONLY line in the file and that you save it as .ram. http://209.51.142.186/~csochoir/YourActualSoundFile.rm and make your link - My Song This line should point to the .ram file you just made and that file should open up the actual media file. I hope I got it right that time, been a while since I've had to do this. Choir is it? Can't wait to hear! (I'm on my way to choir rehearsal now as a matter of fact) Quote
