surfdean Posted January 8, 2005 Posted January 8, 2005 I was trying to get to cpanel to check awstats to check about "javascript enabled browsers". I need a percentage or something because I want to use a javascript slideshow, and don't want to deter visitors with a blank text only first page.... the last time i checked under the Miscellaneous heading near the bottom, the only active statistic is favorites added. The next stat, Javascript disabled says "-" Does that mean that no one has javascript disabled? If not, that is if this stat is not enabled, is there a way to enable this checking? I have poked around the awstats.mydomain.conf file, and did not see a parameter for javascript. I believe it would fall under the MiscTrackerUrl heading, but I don't see that. Maybe I need to increase the LevelForBrowsersDetection to 2 from 1? of course, if it is working, i don't want to change a thing.... TIA, dean Quote
TCH-Rob Posted January 8, 2005 Posted January 8, 2005 Go to the awstats page at http://awstats.sourceforge.net/docs/awstats_config.html and look for the section entitled "MiscTrackerUrl". This should show you how to set this up. Quote
surfdean Posted February 6, 2005 Author Posted February 6, 2005 Thanks for the reply, sorry, things move slowly in the tropics. I checked the link, and have seen that while googling, but it does not mention the specific feature, i.e. javascript enabled, that i want to track. How can i be sure that it will track this? Or should I just take it for a given? Is this file installed on our virtual servers by default or do i have to download it? thanks, dean Quote

surfdean Posted March 5, 2005 Author Posted March 5, 2005 Hi Rob, thanks for the info. I just looked at the site, and it does show explicitly how to add the javascript code to the home page. But... does Java = Javascript in this case? I ask because my menus are DHTML/javascript. I know the globalish stats are about 90% of people have it running, but I want to make sure I'm not chasing off customers by having an unusable menu. http://awstats.sourceforge.net/docs/awstat...#MiscTrackerUrlMiscTrackerUrlVersion : 5.6+ # MiscTrackerUrl can be used to make AWStats able to detect some miscellanous # things, that can not be tracked on other way like: # - Screen size # - Screen color depth # - Java enabled # - Macromedia Director plugin <snip> Look at the bottom of this page for Tracking screen resolutions You will find the instructions needed to get this working. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Quote
