erisande Posted December 22, 2004 Posted December 22, 2004 Howdy! I have a database I wish to get rid of, and I seem to recall the old look of PHPMyAdmin used to have tabs for DROP and EMPTY. But now I can't find them. Can someone point me in the right direction to Drop a database? Thanks Quote
TCH-RobertM Posted December 22, 2004 Posted December 22, 2004 Hi erisande you can drop tables by going into CPANEL then under the MySql Database Icon Down towards the bottom there is phpMyAdmin Click that that will show you your Datbases click Database you want then on the top you should see Drop towards the top right hope this helps Quote
erisande Posted December 22, 2004 Author Posted December 22, 2004 I see the tabs for: Structure, SQL, Export, Search, and Query. There used to be 2 more: Empty and Drop which were red colored, but they are not there... Screenshot below is what I see Quote
TCH-RobertM Posted December 22, 2004 Posted December 22, 2004 on the left hand side you see if you see your database test_test there if so click that you should see the missing tabs Quote
erisande Posted December 22, 2004 Author Posted December 22, 2004 Looks like Ticket Time... I must have something set incorrectly, because when I click the DB name (circled in red), this is the screen I get. Thanks for the instructions. That is what I had expected, but not received. Quote
TCH-RobertM Posted December 22, 2004 Posted December 22, 2004 I tried to do the same thing with a test database and I am coming up empty as well , I tried to drop the database with the SQL command as well and Drop Database command is disabled ..... Ticket time will probably be best answer Sorry Quote
erisande Posted December 22, 2004 Author Posted December 22, 2004 I just realized: your graphic shows the controls for a table, not the database itself. I can get those controls for tables. I thank you again for your help. I'll figure something out, I am sure. Quote
TCH-RobertM Posted December 22, 2004 Posted December 22, 2004 yes I realized that also when I attempted to do the drop database command as well.. Did you open a ticket ? If you find out an answer will you post it back here .... Thanks Quote
erisande Posted December 22, 2004 Author Posted December 22, 2004 I just submitted a ticket. From past experience, I feel it will be answered within the next hour. They are so quick here! Quote
TCH-RobertM Posted December 22, 2004 Posted December 22, 2004 I really like the fact that the Support staff as well as all the users here seem to help each other out... One of the BIG REASONS I chose TCH ...I am not at all unhappy with my choice there.... Quote
erisande Posted December 22, 2004 Author Posted December 22, 2004 Answer to question: If you want to completely delete the database you would click on Delete in the MySQL options when you click in the MySQL icon. The only options now in PhpMyAdmin is to drop tables from the database. You can click on the check boxes and then select Drop Table to drop the tables in the database. Cool! The odd thing... my database wasn't listed in that window. BUT I found out the database I was trying to delete wasn't even one I had created! It was a test the last tech person created on my account to test a previous problem. THAT was why I had so much trouble! Again, to TCH! Quote
