FXChrissy311 Posted December 18, 2004 Posted December 18, 2004 Hi. Before I purchase web space I would like to ask a couple of questions. #1 - Is it possible to buy web space from TCH to host my files, but use a domain name purchased through another company (without transferring the domain name to TCH)? If so, how do I go about doing this? #2 - If I have 2 domain names for 2 separate sites, can I use the same web space for both domains and have each domain show its respective site? EX: site1.com and site2.com both share the same web space (each having their own root folder)... when users go to site1.com they will see the contents of site1.com and never know site2.com is being hosted on the same web space... is this possible? Thanks in advance for your help. Quote
LisaJill Posted December 18, 2004 Posted December 18, 2004 1) yes - you would need to change the domain to POINT to tch, but it needn't be transferred. You would do the changing of pointing with whomever hosts the domain. 2) only on a reseller account; not on a standard shared hosting account. =) Quote

One more question... regarding the reseller account... am I restricted to using a certain number of domains per web space account? Or can I use as many domain names as I want (so long as I have the space/bandwidth available)? Also.... (just thought of another question)... will I get charged anything extra for having multiple domain names share the same web space? Quote
LisaJill Posted December 18, 2004 Posted December 18, 2004 On a non-reseller account, you can only have domains parked (pointing to the root of the same site). On a reseller account - you are limited only by your bandwidth, hdd space, and imagination. (specially, in regards to domains/web sites hosted, obviously you're still restricted by the AUP etc. =) ) You won't be charged more, except for the obvious cost of owning more than 1 domain name. =) Quote

Or, is only 1 domain name allowed per non-reseller account? On a reseller account - you are limited only by your bandwidth, hdd space, and imagination. What is AUP though? Quote
LisaJill Posted December 18, 2004 Posted December 18, 2004 No, on a non-reseller account, you can have as many parked domains as you want - but they have to point to the ROOT of your site (public_html) NOT a subfolder/subdomain. On a reseller you can have howerver many domains you want, pointing wherever. =) Acceptable Use Policy =) Quote
