Bernie van Niekerk Posted December 9, 2004 Posted December 9, 2004 I've been tryinh to install Movable Type... Installation won't continue becase it can't find the SQL path,....".db" How do finf out out what the path to the SQL Dbase is...? Thanks Bernie Quote
arvind Posted December 9, 2004 Posted December 9, 2004 Since you're using mySQL, but a # in front of the line that starts DataSource -- that is for an alternative, bad database system. You'll need to uncomment (remove the #) from the mysql lines >ObjectDriver DBI::mysql Database <database-name> DBUser <database-username> and enter your details for database name and username These are set when you create the database from cpanel, it is in the format cpanelusername_databasename and cpanelusername_databaseusername You'll also need to put the password for the database user in mt-dp-pass.cgi Quote

Bernie van Niekerk Posted January 5, 2005 Author Posted January 5, 2005 Tks for the reply.. In the end I got people from Movable Type to install for me... Painless and easy..$100 Quote
LisaJill Posted January 5, 2005 Posted January 5, 2005 They jumped from $40 to $100 installations? Holy cow. *blinks* You should have asked here, I've handheld/done installations for some members for free. I avoid it but I could have troubleshooted your problem at least.... A lot of us would have been more than happy to help. Happy it's running, though! Quote
soundbelly Posted January 29, 2005 Posted January 29, 2005 Hmm...here is the info that I received via email from Movable Type support. ME: "Can I pay for a MT install for the 'free' use?" MT: "Hi, we only offer our paid installation service to those who have purchased a supported license. Regards, Six Apart Technical Services ME REPLY: "So, in conjunction with purchasing a supported license I must also purchase an install? If so, how much is an install if I purchase a Personal Edition?" MT: "Hi, you're not required to purchase an installation if you purchase a license, but you must purchase a license in order to purchase an installation (because it is an Advanced Support option, and support options are only included with paid licenses). The installation fee for personal sites is $60." So, $100 was actually cheaper than what I was 'quoted'. It's $69.95 for the personal license + $60 to install. $129.95 - as of January 24, 2005. Quote
AlanV Posted January 30, 2005 Posted January 30, 2005 That's outragous... they're really squeezing every penny they can out of MT3.x, aren't they? I recently installed MT for a friend for free (the free version). If you need something installed in the future, just ask around on the forums I'm sure someone'll do it for you for free. Quote
