Hi.

I am assembling the knowledge to build a family website.

It will use something like aMember to protect non "public" areas in the site.

I want there to be a bulletin board program of some sort in an aMember protected area.

Is there a "membership manager" and "bulletin board" that work together so that the user does not have to create a user record for both membership and the bulletin board? I want the two to be tied together. It seems logical to me but I might be (am probably) missing something on the downside.

Also, Does aMember allow the pairing of a photograph in each user profile?

If not, is there a way to do so? I think I really need this function.

I can spend some bucks on this project.

Site will be hosted at TCH at www.alltheporters.com. I have a reseller account.

Any input appreciated..

Thanks very much

Mike, I was going to reply to your message a few hours ago. Unfortunately, my internet connection went down and now that it came back up, it looks I'm too late.

Anyway, can you tell us what the answer is? It may help other users.

By the way, I'm moving your post for better organization.

Hello. I found reference elsewhere that the makers of aMember can set up a plugin that will make the two (aMember and Vbulletin) refer to/update a common database.

Thus there will be a single login and enforced integrity.

I have opened a service ticket at CGI-central (maker of aMember?) re the details of this.

I think that there will be an additional cost.

I have also asked them about my need to incorporate a user updateable photograph in each members record.

When I get more information I will post it here.

Thanks.

Obviously,I would still appreciate any input regarding these issues as the issue is not closed.

My intent is to create a large family website. Primary function is to allow a large(?) group of people to keep current personal information in a place that other members can access and view.

In adition to member management and a bulletinboard there will be family news pages,

birthday notification in a calendar, and perhaps a chat.

In an attempt to streamline management I am now sort of casting around to see if there is a content management system (CMS) that is geared towards group profile management and organization. I have not found one yet.

Any input would be appreciated.

Thanks.
