sheryltoo Posted November 29, 2004 Posted November 29, 2004 I'm trying to upload some video files but can't seem to get the files to work, once I upload them. I'm assuming I can't create these files and upload them the same way I did at my free web site. This is what I tried to do: Create the file for example, http://domainname.com/video.wmv then save it on notepad. Create a second file changing the file name to video1.wvx and saved that using notepad. I then uploaded my video and the wvx file to my site but it won't play or open. Are there any instructions on what I need to do? Sheryl Quote
TCH-Thomas Posted November 29, 2004 Posted November 29, 2004 I dont use notepad to build my sites but I assume you wrote something like this: Content goes here Correct? Also, remember that having videos playing straight from your site might have you running out of bandwidth very fast. Quote
sheryltoo Posted November 29, 2004 Author Posted November 29, 2004 Hi Tom, I thought I had everything typed out correctly but I redid it and it suddenly dawned on me that I forgot about upper and lower case letters again. I put my videos in a a separate folder called Videos but used videos for the path. I changed my video folder to a lower case v and it worked. I need to remember to quit using capital letters, lol. Yes, I realize I could be using up a lot of bandwidth so I'll have to watch out for that. If I keep my videos in zip form instead, I shouldn't use up as much bandwidth. Is that correct? Sheryl Quote
TCH-Don Posted November 29, 2004 Posted November 29, 2004 (edited) Hi Sheryl, yes its best in the long run to use only lower case letters for file and image names as it will always haunt you sooner or later. You can use - or _ to seperate words like this_is_my_cat.jpg Edited November 29, 2004 by TCH-Don Quote

That is correct...but you will not be able to "view" them easily. You will have to download the zip, save it to the hard drive, unzip it and then open the file from a program. Quote
