EpochsEnd Posted November 29, 2004 Posted November 29, 2004 so what if I want to switch domain names. no prob right? what if the domain i want is already taken. if i can convince the dude to hand over the domain (at gunpoint? RPG maybe?) is there a way to switch it over even if it hasn't expired for him yet? Quote
TCH-Thomas Posted November 29, 2004 Posted November 29, 2004 To change the domain on your hosting account, all you need to do is to submit a ticket to the tech guys explaining to them what you want to do. You can either park it on top of your other domain, which basically means that people that only knows your current name will have access to your site until current domain expires and the other one has propagated. As for if you can do this with someone elses domain as you are asking, that I dont know but the same tech guys will be able to tell. Link on top of page. Also, moving for organization. Quote
TCH-Bruce Posted November 29, 2004 Posted November 29, 2004 Unless he transfers the domain to you there is nothing you can do with it. You will have to wait for it to expire and then purchase it. Quote
jnull Posted November 29, 2004 Posted November 29, 2004 Of course, if you have some kind of copyright or legal issue that can get you the domain, you can help the attorneys earn some more dinero and potentially get it that way ... but you really have to prove your right to the domain in extreme detail and be willing to shell out at least $10,000 to get the paperwork moving even without it going to court. "Been there, done that" in a business I was involved in when we discovered someone else was using our registered trademark name, and we went after them to get it back as a domain name. We did win out of court, which was nice, but still shelled at the $10G. Quote
