SayocTuck Posted October 22, 2004 Posted October 22, 2004 Hello all, After a bit of research I have decided to drop my current ISP and join the TCH family. Being new to TCH, I have a quick question regarding email forwarding before I migrate things over. I am currently in need of forwarding mail adressed to one account to another external account, but I need the email to be delivered to the original account as well. So basically I need an email to be delivered to its original intended recipient and a copy forwarded on to another account. My previous ISP had a checkbox as to whether or not to leave a copy in the account that the message was originally sent to or not. Just wanted to make sure this functionality is supported and exactly how to accomplish this using the CPanel offered. Thanks! Quote
TCH-Thomas Posted October 22, 2004 Posted October 22, 2004 I dont think it can be done unfortunately (but I could be wrong). The only solution I see is to create a email adress and using an email client (like outlook, thunderbird etc) to access the email and also leave the email on the server, then computer number 2 can also download it via pop. TCH-Bruce Posted October 22, 2004 Posted October 22, 2004 Yes, you can get email to one account and forward to another account. What you need to do is create an email forward in cPanel where email to someone@**** also goes to another email address that you specify. I use this option. The mail will get delivered to both accounts. Quote
TCH-Thomas Posted October 22, 2004 Posted October 22, 2004 Then I learned a little more and apologise to the original poster. Quote
TCH-Bruce Posted October 22, 2004 Posted October 22, 2004 Yes, and there's another cool thing you can do with forwards. You can give out addresses that don't exist in your domain as accounts if you set up forwards for that address to an actual account. I use this feature when filling out online forms. I will use the name of the site I am using it on like anyplace@****. I create a forward to my real email address for that address. If I start getting spam to that address I know my address was sold or harvested and I just remove the forward. No more spam and I don't do business with them anymore. Quote
SayocTuck Posted October 22, 2004 Author Posted October 22, 2004 Good news! Thanks for the info and the quick responses. Quote
TCH-Thomas Posted October 22, 2004 Posted October 22, 2004 Thanks Bruce. I will have to start doing that too. Quote

TCH-Don Posted October 22, 2004 Posted October 22, 2004 Welcome to the forums SayocTuck with forwards you can also create a distribution list e-mail to address@domain forward to addess1@domain then more forwards to other addys e-mail to address@domain forward to addess2@domain e-mail to address@domain forward to addess3@domain and so forth I use this for a form that goes to several departments. hope to see you here soon. Madmanmcp Posted October 22, 2004 Posted October 22, 2004 After a bit of research I have decided to drop my current ISP and join the TCH family. Did you write this correctly? Your "ISP" is your Internet Service Provider and if you drop it you will also drop your connection to the Internet. TCH provides web hosting and email but does not provide you with any access to the Internet. So before you drop your ISP for TCH make sure you have another way to get Internet connectivity. Quote
