Hi,

I am new to the whole building website scene and i was wondering if u could point me in the correct direction.

I have been playing with forums today for my website, and i wanted to know how i would go about loging in a user from the front page of my site. Then redirecting that user to their correct forum. (Ive noticed that you can sets of users)

Any ideas??

Thanks for your time

Welcome to the family, Ginja_Ninja ;)

(humm... "Ginja"... are you Portuguese?)

Well, both forum versions available on cPanel are outdated (unfortunately TCH has no control over this, as this software is updated when cPanel is), so I'd say your best option is to download one from the official site and install it yourself. And since Invision Power Board is no longer free, you'd have to go with phpBB (or something else, if you feel comfortable with it).

Even if you decide to go with the cPanel installer, I'd recommend you install phpBB, because it's still free (and it will always be) and if someday you decide to upgrade it to the latest version, it's much easier than upgrading from an old Invision Power Board instalation.

hi there,

thanks alot for the info. will bear that all in mind.

I have been playing with dreamweaver and i have managed to connect to the mysql phpbb database and afaik i have created a login page that references the corect tables in the database. But it doesnt seem to recognise my login attempt, ie the login fails, and i know the user exists.

Got any ideas?

No I am not Portuguese, Ginja as in "ginger" is the colour of my hair <_<

Thanks again all

Do u think that i would now be better asking my new question in a different forum ? for better coverage?? or have this one moved.

Your opinions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
