I have installed the invision board.

I want to use the administrator validation method of validating new users. Can the board be set up to send an e-mail to me when someone attempts to register and is awaiting approval?

Currently it seems that I have to log on to the control panel to know, yet the message the user sees after registration implies that the admin has been informed.

Also, what version of Invision does the script install? The control panel screens have an "upgrade alert".

If I want to, can I install the later version, and does that affect the support I will receive?

Themp,

good questions. the invision board install is so new here through cpanel that I've not had a chance yet to pick it apart. I've been using this board for some time, but rarely even have to visit the Admin area (great family we have here!).

You may want to check Invision's site (here) for answers to your validation email request.

As for upgrading here, dunno. If nobody else chimes in soon though, I'll go see if I can find an answer for you....you may have to 'bump' me if I forget. Ok?

Actually I seem to be having problems with all e-mail functions within the board.

Member to member e-mail does not work, nor does the registering user get an e-mail.

(the private messaging does work)

Sorry I didn't check back in last night.

If you want to PM me with your URL to the board, Admin user and pass and I'll check it out for glaring issues, ok?

An update and a Duh!pdate.

First the Duh!pdate:

After asking the question regarding which version is running, I realized that it is printed at the bottom of each screen. :)

The Update:

Some of the board e-mail functions are now working (without my help) .... except the new user notification. It also seems that the logon screen has changed. I have lost the options section with "remember me and "Don't add me to the active users list".
