Dns Question

ok,, i need help, cuz dns is not my thing.

 

i have my primary domain.. already set up

 

i need to have a cname entry set up to point to another url to complete a function.

 

can i set the cname from a subdomain of my primary,, or do i have to register for a whole new domain name?

 

anotherwords,,,

www **** = my site

subdomain.**** = another site function

 

i prolly didnt make sense,, but thats why i am asking for help cuz i dont know dns.

 

anyone point me in the direction i need to go?

 

is it maybe a dns zone i need? help??????
