TCH-Thomas Posted October 3, 2004 Posted October 3, 2004 (edited) I dont know which forum this belongs to, so feel free to move. On a site with frames I use horde webmail (Dont know how important that is in this, but still) When people click the webmail link in the menu a log in screen shows up (2nd pic in attached screenshot), then when they have filled out the info, the horde log in box shows up with the info filled out (pic 1). Is there any way I can get rid of the I.E and Firefox log in boxes so when link is clicked the browser shows only hordes log in box and they only have to log in once? borfast Posted October 3, 2004 Posted October 3, 2004 I'm not sure if you can get rid of the login boxes, because they are "sent" by the server. The only thing I can imagine is activating the password manager (or whatever it's called) in Firefox but I don't know if it will work, because I never let any software take care of my passwords Quote
TCH-Thomas Posted October 3, 2004 Author Posted October 3, 2004 In firefox that is not an option unfortunately. It opens the password box there too. Quote
borfast Posted October 3, 2004 Posted October 3, 2004 In firefox that is not an option unfortunately. You mean the password manager? It's there. Go to Preferences -> Privacy -> Saved Passwords and check the Remember Passwords checkbox. I don't know if it remembers passwords for HTTP Auth requests sent from the server but I know it works. TCH-Thomas Posted October 3, 2004 Author Posted October 3, 2004 No, I mean that it does show up the same way as I.E´s log in box does. Why I am asking all this by the way in the first place is that I think 2 log in boxes for same thing is 1 too much. And, even if I or someone figures out how to get rid of it in lets say firefox, theres nothing that says that another visitor uses I.E for instance. What I would like to do do is to find if theres a url I can put in the link that bypasses a browsers own log in boxes. For instance: The normal url for horde would be http://www.domain.net:2095/horde/index.php but if theres a url that might be http://www.domain.net:2095/horde/index1.php then this browser log in box might be bypassed, and it is that kind of eventual url I wanna find out if it exists. borfast Posted October 3, 2004 Posted October 3, 2004 Oh, sorry, seems I misunderstood your previous post. Well, what you want is possible but you would have to change the login script in Horde, which would mean messing with the whole server and... well, you know the rest :| Quote
TCH-Thomas Posted October 3, 2004 Author Posted October 3, 2004 (edited) Yup, I know the rest. Thanks Raul Bill, I wanna bribe you. Edited October 3, 2004 by Jikrantz Quote
borfast Posted October 3, 2004 Posted October 3, 2004 (edited) Just for future reference, in case someone doesn't know: the "you know the rest" part in my previous post meant that TCH does not change pre-installed scripts, because the next time cPanel was upgraded (Horde, SquirrelMail and all the pre-installed scripts are installed with cPanel), all those changes would be lost and they would have to be redone. As you probably imagine, if TCH was to satisfy every client's little request to change a little piece of a script on all 80+ servers, every time we'd go through a cPanel upgrade, we'd need to hire a small country to take care of those changes There is another way, though, if you really want to get rid of the login dialog: install a personal copy of Horde webmail in your account Edited October 3, 2004 by TCH-Raul Quote

TCH-Dick Posted October 4, 2004 Posted October 4, 2004 There is another way, though, if you really want to get rid of the login dialog: install a personal copy of Horde webmail in your accountI am allowed to do that? Yes, and then you can customize it in anyway you you wish. Quote
TCH-Thomas Posted October 4, 2004 Author Posted October 4, 2004 Ok, thanks Raul and Dick I will check the instructions and then I´ll see if its worth it (read Tompa-understandable ) Quote
borfast Posted October 4, 2004 Posted October 4, 2004 Thomas, if you get yourself in trouble, you know where to go Quote
TCH-Thomas Posted October 4, 2004 Author Posted October 4, 2004 I know. The people in this forum has rescued me many many times from complete disaster. Quote
TCH-Thomas Posted October 4, 2004 Author Posted October 4, 2004 I dont think I will have to install Horde. I figured out that neomail does what I want. Ok, I dont like how it looks, but it doesnt give me any extra log in boxes. Quote
borfast Posted October 5, 2004 Posted October 5, 2004 (edited) Of all three (Horde, NeoMail and SquirrelMail), I prefer SquirrelMail. Have you tried it? You can simply go to www.******/sqmail and it will present you a simple HTML form for login, which can be used with Firefox's password management features. Edited October 5, 2004 by TCH-Raul Quote
TCH-Thomas Posted October 5, 2004 Author Posted October 5, 2004 Yes, I have tried it. In this website I use a left frame on this site and squirrelmail places inbox, sent etc in its own left frame (in lack of words) so it was not an option this time. Other than that I prefer squirrelmail too. Quote
