TCH-Bruce Posted September 29, 2004 Posted September 29, 2004 You need to open a help desk ticket and allow the techs to do it for you. You can click here to access the help desk. Moving for organization. Quote
jandafields Posted September 29, 2004 Posted September 29, 2004 You can use cpanel (on your old host) to backup your entire site from the old host, and ftp the backup file to your own computer. Then, you ftp the backup file from your own computer to your TCH website folder, and use cpanel to restore the backup. Then delete the backup file to save space. When the TCH tech's do it, they can ftp directly from old host to TCH. When you do it your self, you have to use your own computer as the middle guy. Something to remember, if any of your scripts have absolute paths in the configs, you will probably have to change them for TCH. Your old host may have been /home/www/hft4344 and TCH may be /home/bob... Quote
Nessuno Posted September 30, 2004 Author Posted September 30, 2004 i submitted the ticket when i arrived to tch, and they moved the site for me. i proposed this tutorial because i tried to move my site in that way (jandafields) but withous success!! i downloaded the full backup, and in cpanel, in the "backup" section, under "Restore a Home Backup" i uploaded the backup. The site wasn't ok, but in the main folder there was the file that i uploaded. then i deleted it and asked to you in a ticket i suppose that there were some timeout problems, cause i uploaded 160mb @ 30kb/s Quote
jandafields Posted September 30, 2004 Posted September 30, 2004 When you make the backup, it gives you a md5 to verify that it is downloaded correctly. If it wasn't working, it was probably corrupted like you said. Quote
TCH-Don Posted September 30, 2004 Posted September 30, 2004 (edited) I never had any luck with the full backups, so some time ago, I tried an experiment With an extra domain, in it's cpanel > backup I skipped the full backup and downloaded the home dir backup, and all below that link databases, e-mail filters and alias. Home Directory Download a home directory Backup Download a MySQL Database Backup Aliases Filters Then I terminated the domain account The next day I created the account again with the same user and password and uploaded the home backup and all the others using the same cpanel > backup page. Restore a Home Backup Restore a MySQL Database Restore an Alias/Filter And the site was restored. A lot more work than if the techs did it, but it worked for the same user/password. If the user/password is differen't I think you would have some editing to do. Don't know if this helps. Edited September 30, 2004 by TCH-Don Quote
