TCH-Don Posted September 19, 2004 Posted September 19, 2004 (edited) First Welcome to the Family and your new home! We really are like family here. So if you need anything, just ask your new family! We love to help As you have discovered the public_html folder is where your web site should be. In your program publish setup, look for a setting for a remote folder or directory and enter public_html there to cleanup the files that might be in your root folder above the public_html use an ftp progam or cpanel > filemanager to goto the root folder and delete the files you uploaded If you are not sure about removing files there, just get the golive publishing to the right place and then open a help ticket asking to clean up the files in the root folder. But you should be able to do this. If you need help just ask, that is why we are here. Edited September 19, 2004 by TCH-Don Quote

GroovyFish Posted September 19, 2004 Posted September 19, 2004 Hi from another GoLive user! It sounds like you are saying that you uploaded the files to a place other than the public_html folder. Did you place them in another folder, or in the root? You could either delete what you have uploaded and then reupload into the public_html folder, or you could either via GoLive, FTP program, or File Manager in Cpanel move the files to the public_html folder. HTH (if I understood you correctly) Quote
TCH-Don Posted September 19, 2004 Posted September 19, 2004 (edited) I did find this from Adobe Golive support 10. Verify that the site's FTP uploading preferences contain valid entries Verify that the site's FTP uploading preferences contain valid entries for the FTP server, directory, user name, and password. To edit a site's FTP uploading preferences: 1. Load the site file in GoLive. 2. Choose Site > Settings. 3. Click the Publish Server icon (GoLive CS) or the FTP & WebDAV Server icon (GoLive 6.x) in the left panel. 4. Do one of the following: -- In GoLive CS, click Add, and then click New in the Select Publish Server dialog box. -- In GoLive 6.x, choose Edit Server from the FTP Server menu, and then select the New item icon. 5. In the following fields, enter the FTP server name, the path to your directory, your user name, and your password, as specified by the ISP: -- Server The server's hostname may be in WWW format (for example, www2.earthlink.net), FTP format (for example, ftp.mindspring.com), or IP format (for example, 206.251.11.2). (An FTP hostname is typically different from an HTTP hostname.) -- Directory The directory path should refer to an actual folder on the Web server. The ISP can confirm the path for you. If the folder to which you initially connect when you log in to the Web server is different from the folder in which you store files, click Browse, navigate to the folder in which you store files, and then click OK. You can also manually enter the relative path from the connection folder to the storage folder (for example, "~user," "public_html," "users/username/"). Use forward slashes ( / ) to indicate a change of folder hierarchy. Do not precede the pathname with a forward slash ( / ) unless you're entering the full absolute path on the Web server from the connection folder to the storage folder (for example, /home/user/public_html/). Note: If your user name and password automatically log you into your public HTML folder (where your Web pages are stored), leave the Directory field blank. If this field contains incorrect information, new folders will be created in your folder on the Web server. Your files may upload successfully but not to the correct location, so you won't be able to see them. -- User name The ISP specifies your user name. -- Password The ISP specifies the password for your user name.
