I have a starter plan account. I have read through the AUP and was unable to find anything in it that would prohibit me from doing this, but I wanted to ask to confirm.

 

Is there anything that would prohibit me from running a web based e-mail service from my starter plan account and sell the service to private individuals?

According to the Acceptable Use Policy page.

 

You may not conduct hostee or offer free web hosting to people based on your subdomains.

 

Offering anything for a fee is in violation of the AUP for a standard hosting plan.

What if it's not based on a subdomain?

Does that mean you can't use a standard hosting plan to sell a product?

I think Bruce means you may not offer hosting in any kind on a standard hosting plan for a fee, no matter its in the domain or a subdomain.

You can sell a product,

but you cannot resell your your web space or web services in a standard shared account.

For that you need a resellers account

So that should be "fee" ?

(It's a typo in the AUP then, if it is)

 

I was confused by that... I read it and thought I couldn't have hostees, so I spent a day transferring my hostees to a different host
