Is it possible to set up a a filter to have for example all mail to user@domain.com with a header of test123 filed into a folder name test123? I am looking for the ability to do server side filtering, not message rules on the client.

You can filter it server side via cPanel but these are the only options:

  • Destroy the e-mail - Enter Discard in the field.
  • Redirect to another address - Enter the e-mail address to which to redirect the e-mail.
  • Redirect to a script - Enter the full script path on the machine that hosts your web site.

Hi,

I'm interested in the option "Redirect to a script" of the filter of cPanel. I made a long search on the Web but I didn't found a lot of information :-(

My question is: What are the paramters that the script (that I indicate in the mail filter of cPanel) can receive after the "redirection to the script"? Can my script access to the fields "From", "Body", etc?

Best regards, and please answer quickly if you can.

Thank you in advance.

Yes, your script will be able to access all those fields but I'm not sure in what form. The e-mail will be passed in it's "original" form (all the headers and stuff and the e-mail body included), so you'll probably have to parse that yourself but I'm sure you'll be able to find something about that on Google

Thank you very much for your quick answers (I am hosted by a site with a very bad support team that never answers!! ;) ), after at least 6 hours of work I found the problem of the forward, it was very complicated (format of the URL passed in cPanel, parameter the php call to avoid reloading php modules, parsing emails) but I learnt many thing.

Have a nice day Thumbs Up

OH, you're hosted by another company?? Well mister, then that will be $10.00, please. :)

Just kidding, of course but if you're so unhappy with your hosting company, why don't you give TCH a try? You can try it for 30 days without a problem, if you don't like the service, you'll get your money back ;)
