I thought there was a way to turn on the automatically email a person when a new topic or post has been added to a topic or forum they started or replied to. I know they can check the option in their controls but I want it checked automatically when they sign up. I thought there was way to do this but I don't see it.

Sorry but I don't think there's such an option for that, unless you want to change the code yourself.

 

And there's a reason to it: if people signed up and started receiving unsolicited e-mails, they could acuse you of spamming them, which wouldn't be good.

 

So if you do make the necessary changes to make it work the way you want, you should warn people about it on the terms and conditions of use they have to agree to when they sign up.
