Ninepatch Posted August 15, 2004 Posted August 15, 2004 My installed, licensed copy of CSB 4 is acting in ways that make me suspect I may need to reinstall it. I've been working for about 10 hours and have had to reboot my system 3 times to correct errors that were totally unexplainable and unresponsive. The latest of these is a disappering rollover for link text that has been working fine all day. Now that I've published the file, the rollover's gone. I've double checked the HTML Link Definitions in both the Page Layout settings and the Page Area definitions. Both are identical and set for a rollover, which, as I said has been working just fine all day. Earlier, CSB decided to eat a page background graphic which existed on the logical page but would not display on the physical page until I rebooted the computer. Dumping my cache didn't do a thing. It had been just fine for hours before hand, just up and disappeared for a while! So, I've got all my files backed up. Is there anything else I need to do? Or, does anyone have a suggestion for something that may be sitting in front of my face but I can't see at the moment? My system is healthy, everything else is functioning fine - only CSB is unhappy at the moment. Yuck! Thanks for your help, as always!! Thumbs Up PS: OK, OK - I can hear you Sam - "Link???" newsite beginning Quote
TCH-Don Posted August 16, 2004 Posted August 16, 2004 (edited) Beth, be sure you have your registration key somewhere before you reinstall. And that your data is in a folder inside of My Documents not CSB. And I would do a snapshot of your publish details. And this might be the time to get the latest version. Its possible some other program install has over written some dll file with an older version. The new site looks good the rollover links open in a new window, but the images open in the same window. Good luck. Edited August 16, 2004 by TCH-Don Quote
Ninepatch Posted August 16, 2004 Author Posted August 16, 2004 Don - Thanks for the response. I'd spent a good part of the day bouncing around betwenn CSB, PhotoShop and Irfan trying to get those image buttons tweaked. They're still not where I want them, LOL, but I appreciate the encouragement. All are images from my own garden. Latest version of CSB? Hmm....as in interim release? OK, I'll pop over to their site and see wht I can find. I have CSB4 on CD, which I purchased in March '04. I printed out the user guide and have my registration key printed in big red letters & numbers on the front page Thumbs Up - I know about those rascalls! I always set up a separate directory for my projects - old desktop publishing habits die hard, LOL, with separate sub-directories for text files, graphics, images, scripts, and even the much maligned "misc." direcory. It know that my image buttons take me to other pages while those way cool rollover buttons open a new window, but I was so proud of getting Sami's rollover button script working, customized and looking so good on my page. I'm just going to have to figure out a way to make them work - I just like them too much. OK, OK - I know, just like a woman! But, they are pretty, aren't they? Sami does such cool stuff! Those aren't even the rollovers that weren't working. Way down at the bottom of the front page is a TotalChoice Hosting link. It's supposed to change background and increase text-size on rollover. It looked really good when it was working and you couldn't miss it if your mouse got anywhere near it. Now the rollover's not working. I put test links on other pages and they were working fine, too, then zip! I published and they were gone. I went in and manually edited the Page Layout settings, and manually edited each page's Page Area definitions for the HTML Link definitions, saved but couldn't see it in preview anymore. I'll let you know what happens. Thanks! Quote
Ninepatch Posted August 17, 2004 Author Posted August 17, 2004 I love finding out it's the software and not me! I posted on the CSB support board and Samantha knew exactly what I was dealing with. It's a problem with CSB that happens with no pattern or explaination. She gave me an HTML workaround. It's a shame because the built in feature was really nice. I hope they work it out before the next release. The work around code is: SAMI'S CODE TO MANUALLY FIX THE HOVER/BKRND CHANGE LINK PROBLEM: <STYLE> <!-- a:hover { color:#660099;background-color:#C0DCC0; } --> </STYLE> This is posted on her site www.samisite.com in the "Known Problems Area" - I swear, Globalscape should be paying her a royalty fee! TCH-Don Posted August 17, 2004 Posted August 17, 2004 Beth, I agree Thumbs Up looks good. in the rollover code you have target="_blank"> try target="_top"> to open in the same browser. That was nice that you linked to Sami Quote
Ninepatch Posted August 17, 2004 Author Posted August 17, 2004 Don - "_top" did the trick! Thank you, sir, I appreciate your help immensely. Thumbs Up Quote
