Petros Posted March 20, 2003 Posted March 20, 2003 Hi guys. I'm still having probs registering my .co.za domain name with the local registration authority. I keep getting a no PTR record error on your second DNS server (NS6.totalchoicehosting.com) Could you please check, would be nice to use my domain name sometime instead of the IP address. Thanks. KevinW Posted March 20, 2003 Posted March 20, 2003 PTR records are not resolved by a name (such as ns6.totalchoicehosting.com) but by an IP address. Click here for a definition. You may wish to drop a request at the TCH Help Desk for resolution. -kw Quote
Lianna Posted March 20, 2003 Posted March 20, 2003 I remember the issue. I thought we had it all resolved for you? Drop in a help desk ticket. Please give them the link there for your registrar as well. Thanks. Lianna Quote
Dabbles Posted March 20, 2003 Posted March 20, 2003 I may (or not) also have a problem with one of my domains and the dns. I forgot to change the dns to total choice when I set up the hosting plan for www.syzzygy.com. Then I transferred the registration to Total Choice as well. The transfer has been in progress for about 2 weeks. When I do a whois on syzzygy.com I get: "No match for "syzzygy.com" in the registrar database. " Now I have no access to change the dns at the old registrater. I have not cancel hosting with my old provider yet so the site is still up, mainly because I get alot of my email through that account. Is the fact that I did not change the dns holding up the transfer? If so, what should I do? If not, then I assume I'll have no problems changing the dns through my TC domain managment page? TIA Quote
Lianna Posted March 20, 2003 Posted March 20, 2003 Dabs, not changing the DNS prior to transfer would not create an issue with the transfer. If it has been that long, you should drop in a helpdesk ticket and ask about the status of the transfer. Once the transfer is complete you would be able to update your NS entries via the TCH/WWDomains control panel. Thanks. Lianna Quote
