TCH-Bruce Posted July 20, 2004 Posted July 20, 2004 Hey gang. We had a Dell laptop that just started powering itself off. After contacting Dell they suggested that the motherboard needing replacing. So the motherboard was replaced and we sold the laptop to a friend. All was well with the unit for nine months and now it's starting to act up again powering itself down. Dell only gave a 90 day warranty on the new motherboard. Is this really a motherboard problem? Anyone else have any experience with Dell laptops and this sort of problem? Any ideas of what else to look for? Or is it another screwed up motherboard? Any ideas would be appreciated. Quote
TCH-Dick Posted July 20, 2004 Posted July 20, 2004 could be heat, memory, motherboard, faulty power supply etc....Could be something else bad causing the motherboard to go bad. Voltage fluctuations from the power supply could eventually kill a motherboard. It wouldnt surprise me if the motherboard is bad again, but I would bet its some other factor like the PS thats the real problem. Quote
