TCH-Thomas Posted July 10, 2004 Posted July 10, 2004 A friend of mine tries to access her computer but it keeps restarting and says its dumping memory (might be wrong translated). Does anyone know why? Quote
hindixp Posted July 10, 2004 Posted July 10, 2004 Try putting the RAM into another Slot, if you have one empty Quote
TCH-Don Posted July 10, 2004 Posted July 10, 2004 If the computer is old sometimes the pins on the chips become oxidized and removing them and reinserting them will clean the pins. Quote
TCH-Thomas Posted July 10, 2004 Author Posted July 10, 2004 My friend is coming over tomorrow and I will check all suggestions. Thanks Hindi and Don One additional question though (after reading about this on the net)... Can this be due to a faulty windows installation? Quote
hindixp Posted July 10, 2004 Posted July 10, 2004 Ya, that can be a reason in some cases, even a virus(memory resident or other) can lead to such errors. If comp. problems after booting, you can uncheck unwanted startup programs using "msconfig" Start-->Run--msconfig Quote
TCH-Thomas Posted July 12, 2004 Author Posted July 12, 2004 Case closed, guys. Thanks everyone for your help. Im not sure what it was but after a couple of re-formattings it went well. It must have been a virus. Quote
