Samrc Posted June 22, 2004 Posted June 22, 2004 I have made a protected folder with Web protect and added about 100 passwords using cpanel. When I go into the htpasswds file it does show all the user names I have added. And all work fine. But the passwords shown in the password file are not what I assigned. Is there a way to get a list of the TRUE passwords I put in using the Web Protect interface? For example - a temporary password I set up to just test this situation: user id: visitor password is: testpage in the password file it shows: visitor:v4ATthvz4ziHw -Samantha Quote
TCH-Thomas Posted June 22, 2004 Posted June 22, 2004 (edited) I have a webprotected folder too. Where do I find this password-list so I can se what mine says? EDIT: I found it. Weird thing is that even old usernames and pw´s that I have deleted (I thought anyway) are still listed. Edited June 22, 2004 by Jikrantz Quote
TCH-Bruce Posted June 22, 2004 Posted June 22, 2004 The password is encrypted and stored in the file by the system. It wouldn't be very secure otherwise. Quote
Samrc Posted June 22, 2004 Author Posted June 22, 2004 LOL That makes sense! I just know that my own typing is not perfect and wanted to make sure MY list of passwords matched what cpanel has. Guess my only option is to try and sign in with each... Thanks. -Samantha Quote
