  1. Thank you Andy, that makes more sense to me now as to why I have having difficulty with all of this. Thanks for the response.
  2. Thanks for the help but I think I'm still confused as to why this is so difficult. Perhaps this link will help, which explains exactly what I am trying to do: How do I use a custom domain name on my blog? Here's are some quotes from the help section that I think summarize the content: Does this help with what I am looking for? BTW, I submitted a help desk ticket on this but never got a response about it so I'm not sure if I should follow up here to continue conversations or with the hep desk ticket itself. Thanks again for the responses and the help!
  3. You mention a TCH hosted domain which I don't have. I only have the domain itself (purchased through TCH), but it is not currently set up for hosting anywhere. If I understand your explanation correctly, I would need to set up hosting with TCH first and then I could manage it though Wordpress? With Blogger I can just use my domain and then have it pointed to the servers at Google where my blogger posts are already hosted.
  4. Thanks for the help, I will open a ticket. I guess the best reason to this this would be because they offer a free solution to hosting it as opposed to paying for it.
  5. I bought a domain from TCH a while ago but have never gotten around to setting up hosting for it. I noticed that Blogger.com allows me to redirect the DNS entries for this to host my blog there but allow me to use my domain still without having to forward it to http://<myblog>.blogspot.com. The problem I am having is that when I try to update my nameservers to ghs.google.com, I keep getting an error message. Apparently I need two nameservers but Blogger only lists one and, to be honest, I'm not even sure if I am doing this correctly. Please help and thanks in advance.
  6. Hey everyone, I know that this topic has probably been address multiple times but I did try to search first before posting and I just wasn't able to find anything that still works (i.e. not outdated responses). I'm recently engaged and wanted to create a wedding website myself. I'm looking for something free that I can use as an online RSVP form that will email me the response information when someone submits it. I didn't think this should be be difficult but I'm not technical enough to start creating a PHP script myself. Basically I would want: Name (free text field) Are you planning to attend? (yes or no radio buttons) Number of guests? (free text field) email address (free text field) upon submission, the user would be taken directly to my thank you page (thanks.html). I've found something close but it has ads in it and it diverts people to another URL after they submit the information which I would prefer to avoid. Any suggestions or links to previous threads that I missed that would help me out? Thanks very much in advance! Pete
  7. Thanks Bruce. My biggest concern is having a successful upgrade of WordPress but then finding out that something is broken in my theme files that it's not compatible or something (like RSS feeds or what not). I have little to no CSS experience and while I'm not sure if it's even possible, breaking my selected theme by upgrading would be very difficult for me to personally resolve.
  8. So I'm thinking of tackling the great upgrade soon but the back up process concerns me (or more to the point a need to restore if something goes wrong). I see advice on backing up the database and .htaccess file but I was wondering, if I just do the "backup everything" option that is offered in cpanel would that work? I believe an admin would need to restore it if it fails which is fine but should I mess up my own backup process or realize that an upgrade actually breaks something and I need to resort back to what I am currently using I was hoping this might be an added piece of mind. Thanks.
  9. Made some progress on this. Actually in viewing the polls.php page, by default there is a partial line of code that reads: >displayPoll('newest'); Replacing that with: >displayPoll('list'); will display the list of all codes. From there its a matter of tweaking the "list" template to present it the way you want.
  10. Did a quick search and didn't see anything but hopefully this is at least in the right section... Anyone familiar with Minspolls? I'm trying to learn about setting up and displaying a list of all polls that I have created so a user can log in, select a poll and then vote on it. I'm fine with just displaying the poll itself (the latest one) but when I get into displaying the list, I'm not sure how to do it. I have a very basic knowledge of this stuff (usually figure things out by trial and error) so the more you can "dumb" it down, the better. Ulitmately I'm trying to get some feedback for a Fantasy Football league I'm setting up so obviously this is a *HUGE* deal. Actually, its more of an excuse to learn about this stuff. Thanks in advance!
  11. Does anyone know if its possible to create a listening agent to sit on the mail server and wait for new emails to arrive? It would be really cool if the agent would react to a new email received by sending a text message to my cell phone with the FROM email address and the SUBJECT title included. I tried forwarding my TCH email to my Gmail account (anyone need one?) and then applying a filter to automatically forward it to my Cingular phone but this actually caused a number of text messages sent (5 total) to cover the entire email which to me is overkill. One message just alerting me to the fact I have a new email is all I'm looking for. Any suggestions (especially with the agent idea) would be greatly appreciated. I don't even know if this is possible as I'm not much of a programmer but I figure I'd ask around here as a start. Thanks.
  12. I'm getting the same issue with Cingular (and here I thought I was the only one doing this) Not sure why but sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. I know that the size of the email message may have something to do with it. I was just sent an email to my TCH account (with photo's attached) and the person who sent it to me got an undeliverable response. He thought the error was from my TCH email account but when I looked at the message it was actually from Cingular and it basically complained that the message was too large. If I send a test email to my TCH account it seems to forward it just fine to my cell phone. I was wondering if there is anyway to just forward the headers from an email for situations like this? I love getting a text message when someone emails me but if its not reliable, it really doesn't help. Any other suggestions? Thanks.
  13. Wow, thanks for all the great responses, I'll give it a try!
  14. I apologize in advance if this topic has been covered, I didn't see anything when I did a search... I'm looking for a script recommendation for displaying a random image everytime a page is loaded. I've seen some out there but ever since I found out some scripts may be banned I thought it would be best to ask first. Thanks.
