  1. Hi guys! I'm wondering if you are utilizing any Norton software that uses live update. I had a similar issue and discovered an apparent link between Live Update and connection problems. I first shut off the automatic Live update feature and all worked fine. Then, I went to Symantec.com and followed their instructions for configuring Live Update for working with a cable modem, and my problems seem to be gone. The article on their site is in their knowledge base. Document ID: 2000071310294913. Basically it says click 'start', 'control panel', 'switch to classic view', then double click 'symantec live update'. Then click the ISP tab. Click 'Internet options in control panel', 'configure', in the new Windows Internet Properties box click 'LAN settings', click 'automatically detect settings', then click all the ok's to finish. I suggest a reboot after that. Hope this helps
