I use Adelphia.net as my ISP and they just upgraded their email program. They offer the ability to retrieve external email. I've set up my account to access my TCH website account, but I'm getting an authentication error. I know I've got the password and username right (ok, well at least I know I'm using what I use to access Cpanel and Horde). Here's my question...isn't the mail server called mail.mywebsitename.com??? Then I should use the username for my Cpanel/Horde as well as the same password. Have I missed something here? Thanks for suggestions. Monica

Ok, I've had this ongoing issue with my mail for a couple of weeks now. I've tried everything, but I'm not getting the problem resolved. I don't know whether it's because I'm not explaining my problem in a way that people can understand or if I'm dense and just don't get the explanations that are being given to me. I put in a ticket because of this issue, and I was told that TCH doesn't support third-party software. Totally understandable, but I replied that my main inbox was elyssequicksilver.com/romancewriter/inbox when it should be monicaburns.com/monicaburns/inbox instead. So then I got an email from support that said there were two email inboxes in my Horde account and it was fixed. The technician also stated they had created a forwarder for the monicaburns email. So when I went back into webmail (using Horde), I saw that my inbox was still named elyssequicksilver.com/romancewriter/inbox, and the monicaburns.com/Monicaburns/inbox account was gone from the folders. So I thought, ok it's just going to throw all of my Monica Burns email into the elyssequicksilver.com/romancewriter/inbox ... That didn't seem logical to me as far as naming conventions go, since my website is monicaburns.com, but I was receiving email from my monicaburns address in my Outlook and I thought, COOL! it's fixed. Then today, I got another email message that said Hello! You're email is full. So I went in and checked my trash in Horde under the elyssequicksilver/romancewriter/inbox ....no email!!! I'm thinking ok what is going on here! So I checked out the unsubscribed inboxes. My monicaburs.com/monicaburns/inbox had returned and it was full. I checked out the Neo-mail trash can...it was full. I'm trying to figure out why this mail isn't being deleted off the server if it's being pulled out of the inbox. So now I'm thinking, ok, you're doing something wrong. Fix Outlook. So I downloaded the Outlook configuration from the CPanel so that I could receive my email directly from my webmail and so it would delete the email off the server. I followed the steps correctly (they're quite simple). I've checked the settings, but Outlook is not deleting the emails out of my inbox when it pulls them off the server. I've researched this at Microsoft but come up empty-handed. So here are my questions after that LONG diatribe! Is there a reason why monicaburns.com/monicaburns/inbox isn't my main mailbox? What will happen this April when the domain name elyssequicksilver.com is no longer owned by me? Since mail still sees elyssequicksilver.com as a vaild domain and email setting, how will that affect my mail in April? Since elyssequicksilver is going to go away, is there a way I can remove this domain name from the servers permanent? In my limited knowledge, I've convinced myself that having this domain name is causing a conflict somewhere in my email. Thanks for helping understand or correct these issues. WEll the quote under my name is quite appropo, don't ya think! I went into Outlook and setup a new account so that it retrieves messages from the server. I couldn't find any place that allowed me to delete messages as they're pulled from the server, but there was a box I selected that let the messages be deleted every X days. Oh Jimminie.... I just realized your question was worded so that you were thinking my email comes directly from the TCH server to my outlook, but it doesn't...It's set to go to my ISP email account and then into my outlook. I set it up that way because when I tried to configure Outlook with the TCH server, I wound up screwing up my ISP email accounts. Yep using POP not IMAP...which is why I'm so confused. Do you have a generic filter you could suggest that would transfer all email into the main email? That would solve the problem I think. Or perhaps there's another filter I could create to delete an email after it's been forwarded from the monicaburns inbox. Should I put in a ticket so that the main inbox becomes the elysseq/monicaburns/inbox...I'm positive that would solve the problem. Ok, I went to check and it makes a little more sense now, but here's the real problem, I think?? Originally I set up my account as elyssequicksilver.com....I've since changed my writing pen name, and I am no longer using elyssequicksilver for anything, and that domain name will be defunct in April. However, the main email account in Horde is still showing elyssequicksilver/romancewriter/inbox. Can I delete the inbox itself without causing MAJOR problems? I tried deleting the monicaburns/inbox, but the minute I test it, it recreates the folder automatically. My main problem is that the emails are not being deleted from the monicaburns/inbox. Bruce, I'm not sure I follow...my main account is my WebsiteLoginName@WebsiteName.com correct? In my case that would be elysseq@monicaburns.com So if I have an email account created called monicaburns@monicaburns.com I should not have theat forwarded to my Outlook because it automatically throws it out to Outlook? I have my email set up to forward directly to my Outlook email...it's been doing that well. But in the past week, it's been saving all the emails its forwarding and not deleting them when they forward. Am I doing something wrong? Or is it that I'm just starting to get more email at this particular address. I was under the impression that my email would delete from the inbox and move to trash. I've looked through the tutorial info and scanned this topic for someone with a similar problem without success, hence my post. I've thought of setting up a filter in Horde, but I don't understand filters that well in that webmail. Thanks for any help you can offer. I'd like to have a form on my site throw the data received into a database. I use Front Page, and it states that I have to upload to a server that hosts ASP pages. Do I need to do something with my backend services? I already have Front Page extensions running, but I didn't see ASP extensions offered. I know ASP stands for Active Server PAges, but beyond that, I've not a clue as to what it really means. Can someone please give me a hint as to how I can get an ASP file to work on my site and how I can get that info flowing into a database? If I'm barking up the wrong tree, please forgive me. Ok, I know enough to be dangerous here, so please bear with me. I installed a great little chat program called FlashChat (www.tufat.com) and it's working great. I integrated it with my BB, and tested it quite a bit. I had everything up and running, so I thought (BAD MOVE!!) I would go in and delete all the test members I'd registered in my BB through the MySQL database through phpAdmin. I went into the DB, went to Ibf_members, clicked on Browse, selected the users I wanted to remove from the database and clicked the X (delete) button. They were removed successfully. So I then went back to the BB (after closing all browser instances) and tried to register under a new user name. It gave me the following error. mySQL query error: INSERT INTO ibf_member_extra (id) VALUES (3) mySQL error: Duplicate entry '3' for key 1 mySQL error code: Date: Thursday 11th of November 2004 08:57:34 AM Interestingly enough, it did take the registration, and I can get into the BB if I go back and login, but I've got users who won't think to do that, and I want it to be seamless. Oh! One more question...since Elyssequicksilver is parked on the Monicaburns domain...what will happen when the Elyssequicksilver domain expires in April 2005? Will my site go down until a change is made for the domain? I do not plan on retaining Elyssequicksilver domain, and when I log into my cpanel, it shows elyssequicksilver.com in the URL Thanks, Kathi

I'm using FTP Commander (trial version) to try and connect to my server. I'm using ftp.monicaburns.com with my appropriate password. FTP commander shows that it's connected, but I can't see any files or change a directory. When I'm "connected" according to FT Com...I check on the web, and it says there are no active ftp accounts at that time. I've some files I'd like to upload outside of my Front Page program, but I'm flummoxed by this deal It might be of note to point out that when I signed up originally, I used the domain name of www.elyssequicksilver.com (writer pen name) since then I've reverted back to my original pen name and I requested that the elyssequicksilver.com domain name be replaced with www.monicaburns.com While this appears to be done, when I go into the Cpanel, it still shows up as http://www.elyssequicksilver.com:2082/fron...goon/index.html as the domain name. I don't know if this has anything to do with my current FTP connection problems. Kathi

How do I know my domain has been propagated? If I can type in my domain name and get to my parent directory, does that mean it's done? If not, what sort of clues do I have. My Front Page loaded my website into the directory TCH gave me, but it isn't showing at the site (although File Mgr in Cpanel shows the files there), so I'm thinking it's not propogated yet. I just don't want to put in a ticket to the help desk, if this is something I'm doing wrong. (Like mispelling and then buying the wrong domain name ) Thanks, Kathi

Ok, now I feel like a complete and total idiot! I bought envisondesigns.com I'm an English major for pete's sake, I spelled envision wrong! Mad!!! I now have a domain name I can't use. So, I went in and bought envisiondesigns.biz from the TCH domain name site. I suppose I need to wait until the end of the week for this domain name to propagate. Correct? Thanks for the help. I'm not usually so clueless when it comes to technology. So how do I get this new name applied to my TCH hosting account and the incorrect one removed so I can load my website to the correct site? Who did you purchase this domain name from? As both Bunni and Thomas have pointed out the domain is owned by DomainDeluxe.com. I bought it through the TCH domain name site, although I purchased it before I paid for my webhosting. This is very confusing, since I paid with my credit card. Kathi

I purchased a new host plan for a new domain early Sat evening. Total Choice sent me an email with access to the Cpanel and indicated that it can take 24-72 hours for propagation of the website domain. Exactly what does this mean? The first website I hosted with TCH my domain name was available within 24 hours. This time it's taking much longer to actually have my site available. I made sure that my domain name was set to the TCH servers shortly after I purchased my new plan, and I was just wondering what happens if the site isn't available this evening when the 72 hours will have passed? Now I'm wondering why it wouldn't pull it from the Documents folder, because the code was correct. Any thoughts? Thanks for helping me get the PDF to show! Thanks Bruce, but no go...capitalization is all correct, but it doesn't want to load. I found on another forum outside of TotalChoice something about removing a line of code, but I couldn't make heads or tails about it. I'll go back and take another look. I'm like a pit bull.
