To understand why it can take a while for the new name servers to kick in you have to look at what happens. Each DNS record has a TTL (Time to Live) entry that states how long it is to be regarded as accurate (and thus how long once a DNS Server retrieves and caches it before it will be regarded as "stale" and thus needing to be refreshed). If the Name Server that was pointing at your old servers says TTL=1 Week (I've seen that and longer at times) for some entry such as a MX or WWW.xxxx A record, once some other server has looked your record up it will "remember" it for that 1 week period. Thus it will take 1 week before everyone knows the new version of the record and/or looks at a new Name Server for the info. Since the other servers only know about your entries IF they have looked at (and thus cached) them, so long as that last look was more than TTL ago, they will get the new version immediately. Any that have looked within the TTL time frame will wait until the remaining time is over before doing another lookup and thus getting the correct/current version. IOW: If they last looked 6 Days ago (and thus the remaining TTL is 1 Day) then they will get the newer info the next time that they need it after the expiration of that TTL period.

Hi. Thought I would put your last question to rest: SMTP Auth is supported. Mail Submission Agent is not. OK. While lack of support for the standard Port 587 is disappointing (even though I do not actually need it since my on-the-road connectivity provider does not play PORT25 Blocking/Highjacking games like Earthlink and some others do), all I really need is the SMTP AUTH (which you provide). One additional question - Do you have SSL SMTP/POP support? Lack is not a show-stopper - I just have a need for it at times when I'm on the road. :Nerd: Thumbs Up

I am not so concerned about a .18 to .20 upgrade as if there was an provision for getting access to 4.1.x as an option (either by using a separate TCP/IP port or being hosted by a Web Server that connects to 4.1.x in lieu of 4.0.x). Since you DO offer 4.0.18 the lack of access to a 4.1.x version is not a deal breaker (ie: I can live with it at present since non of my MySQL Databases currently need 4.1.x-only features). I plan to start my sign-up by the end of the week (probably via a new domain that I'll register followed later by parking my current domain over it). Rock Sign Thumbs Up

I guess I'll need to wait for a Tech to see this query and reply One additional question that I just remembered - What version of MySQL are you currently running? Also, do you have privisions for offering a more current version when it becomes available? As an example, assuming that you are offering the current 4.0.x version (either .18 or the just released .20) and I have a need for 4.1.x - do you have the ability to move me to a Server that is running it or offering access to 4.1.x via a seperate TCP/IP port? I ask since I am responcible for a site (which I can not move for political reasons) that is hosted with MySQL 3.23.58 and the Hosting Service has no plans or provision to offer 4.0.x in the near term due to the migration to 4.0.x being "To Hard and Disruptive". Before I sign up, I have a few questions: 1) From what is being said here, I get the impression that "Parking" is basically defining an alias for the base domain. Does that mean if I define my base domain as A and park B over it, that I get the same result no matter which I use? If I use B, does the Web Server see A or B in the URL? 2) Do you support a "Catch-All" email account that gets all the messages for which there is no defined POP account? 3) Assuming that I park Domain B over Domain A and send a message to userid@B does it end up in the userid@A mailbox, or unlike Web Sites, are there separate mailboxes foe each domain? 4) If at a later date I want to make B my base and park a over it, can this be done? 5) By paying for a 2nd hosting account, can I unPark B to make it a separate domain? 6) Do your SMTP Servers support SMTP AUTH and PORT 587 (The Mail Submission Agent) in addition to the standard PORT 25 (Mail TRANSMISSION Agent). 7) I plant to transfer at least one domain. Can I populate the Site BEFORE I point the Name Servers at you so I have uninterrupted service while the new DNS records propagate and the old cached ones expire? Thanks.
