I am running a number of Mailman Mailing lists here which are refusing to deliver email to any of our users who use *@AOL.COM email addresses. Their Mailman accounts are being flagged to block sending them email due to claimed Excessive Bounces (from AOL) caused by AOL's incorrectly implemented DMARC feature. I have read that there are newer versions of MAILMAN (than offered here) which can handle the situation and which will send the messages to AOL formatted to make AOL happy and allow delivery to the user. Is there any way to upgrade to these versions or is there any parameter changes I can make to allow delivery to my AOL users. I know that the suggested "solution" is to tell them to use some other ISP's email address. Has anyone here also run into this and found a solution which allows AOL email addresses to continue to be used? Thank You.

I know that when I define a sub-domain, I define what directory I am directed to. IOW: Going X.domain is the same as going to www.domain/directory. My question is if I can define it so that in lieu of it being www.domain/directory, it will map to something like "www.domain/directory/script.php?a=x&b=y"? When I try it screams about not liking the ? (and maybe some of the other characters). Can I get the result I want by using %xx in lieu of the banned symbols? Thank you.

Thank you. Given the original thread in the Post-Sales section saying it was being rolled out, I can accept that it was subsequently withdrawn as the explanation why it is not supported. Now I know and understand the confusion about the availability status.

I am now totally confused about if it is supported or not since after I had posted my question here (due to my log-in not having taken and thus suppressing the Post Sales topic) I DID log in and looked in the Post Sales topic and found a thread (What's The Word On Ruby/rails?) that said the RoR support was announced and implemented back in 2006. Was the support withdrawn after that announcement and thread? Or is it the case that only non-shared servers got the support and the planned shared server roll never occurred? Thank you.

After Posting I noticed that even though I was signed in it was posted as Guest. I am adding the extra message so I get the notify email when it is responded to.

There is a full set of HOW-TO FAQs there. I reviewed them and have found some good hints there that have made some of the things I want to do much easier.

I went to the source (The Mailman support site) and found this FAQ (http://wiki.list.org/pages/viewpage.action?pageId=4030685) that told me how to do what I wanted since TCH has the requisite 2.1.6+ level of the package. I have used this info and fixed my problem. Hopefully this will help others who have this same issue (assuming that they see this article)

Thank you. I will need to look at PHPList to see if it fits my needs. OTOH: I might just use the "Add Text" option to just say to ignore the info. As it is, any attempt to post is being trapped and triggering a "You can not Post" response message so it is more an issue of supplying inaccurate info than allowing posting.

I am setting up an Announcement Only Mailing List using Mailman (as supported via the cPanel). There is text in the Welcome Message and other Message Text Templates that I want to delete since the text is not applicable to this type of list. For example, the text explains how to post to the list. This should not be there since posting by subscribers is not allowed. Can this Template Text be edited? If so, how do I do it? I see that there are menus to add text but this seems to be to add ADDITIONAL text to the supplied template not to replace it. What I can place text to say to ignore the instructions, this would confuse the subscribers and is not the optimum solution. Thank you.

This is now a dead link. I also need a tutorial or at least "How To" configuration info. My needs are setting up a "Broadcast-Only" list where only designated addresses can submit and all others will get rejected (even if subscribed). Looking at the configure menu, I do not see a way to configure this type of filtering unless I am not thinking out of the box. The second list is a more normal one with rejection of non-subscriber messages. That later I see how to do. Note: I would have posted this into a more appropriate forum but I can not find one to handle Mailing List questions.

I just checked out the delete process and as I suspected it is broken. I created a Forward with one address and it stayed there OK for 3 days. I then added a 2nd address (this time an AOL) yesterday afternoon and when I just checked, the forward was gone (not only the AoL but also the good address that was acceptable for 3 days). I will open that Trouble Ticket as you suggested.

Thank you for your reply. I will define a few of the good forwards and leave them there for 2 days (so they are there for at least 1 delete cycle). I will then report back and if needed file a problem report. In the interim it looks like I will need to go the Mailing List route due to needing to echo to AOL addresses.

Thank you. There are 19 addresses and many (but not all) are AoL and Yahoo. All 19 have been deleted not just those with AoL or Yahoo domains. As a suggestion, if you ban Forward-To addresses with these domains, it might be useful (if possible) to do a sanity check when the request is made and pop up an error message (like you do for bad format). I do not know if this is possible since that capability might be in cPanel canned code that is out of your hands (like the inability to supply a list of addresses as opposed to the current one entry per address). Is the reason for the other deletions due to the lack of an email account definition for the address being forwarded? I have a feeling that the only solution to my problem is to make the 19 addresses a Mailing List (with no automatic subscribe ability and the need to be subscribed to have the incoming message echoed). Does the no-forwarding ban ALSO apply to Mailing List sent messages? Thank you.

I have twice defined a set of email forwarders to a email address of the form user@my-domain. They get defined and when I send mail to that address they get echo'ed to the defined forward-to addresses. My problem is that a day later, the forwards have vanished and thus the address is now undefined again. If it helps, there is no actual account defined for the address - Only Forwards defined for it. Is the deletion due to the lack of an underlying account definition? If so, how do I define the account so that the messages do not accumulate but only get forwarded (the purpose of the address is to echo the incoming messages and there is thus no need to actually read the original message). Due to the need to define the forwards one at a time (instead being allowed to supply a list), it is a pain to redefine them each time the system trashes the definitions. Thank you.

Thank you. If possible can you pass on my comment and suggestion to the cPanel developers (or should I do this myself via their web site)? As to my immediate needs, I am happy to use a mailing list (as I stated in my query it is a "better" method) now that I have been pointed to the "auto accept all non-subscriber messages" flag. I will look at the interface later.

I am the postmaster (in addition to other roles) of a domain being hosted at TCH. I have just received an interesting request that I am finding to be frustratingly hard to perform. Basically I am asked to create 20 role-type email addresses, each of which will forward incoming messages to 5 to 10 addresses (as well as a broadcast address that will initially forward to the 20 addresses for each to then forward to their forward list). I am being frustrated in this goal due to the forward interface only accepting one forward-to address per request (although multiple single address requests will add addition addresses to the forward-from address). I would like to request the interface be fixed/revised to either accept multiple comma delineated addresses or that a TEXTAREA type entry such as is offered by the Mailing list Multiple Subscribe interface be implemented. Speaking of Mailing Lists, I realize that this forwarding capability can be handled by defining a mailing list for each role-address (which would thus allow me to define all the forward-to addresses for a forward-from address in one request) except for one GOTCHA. I can find no way via the mailing list definition menus to define the mailing list as open to accepting and forwarding mail from non-subscribers automatically. A flag that says to moderate (and thus need to me manually approve messages from non-subscribers is NOT acceptable. I want all mail to the role-address to get immediately forwarded just as if the address was a forward-type address instead of a mailing list address. If I can be helped to set up such lists, this will satisfy my needs (IOW: It does not need to be done via Email Forwarding). Is there any solution to my problem (or a hope that the forward definition interface could be upgraded to accept multiple addresses per request) or is my only option to define each forward as a separate request to the definition interface? My statement was that IF I were using GoDaddy to host my DNS, they have a menu that allows me to maintain the DNS records there (alter TTL on existent records, add A/MX records, etc.). The prior reply (unless my original question was misunderstood) seemed to say that TCH also offered this type of support and I was now asking how I alter my records in the Name Servers in the same way (or get confirmation that TCH does not offer this capability). The FTP question had to do with what directory in my directory structure the FTP.Domain URL pointed at. When I tested, I found that it was Public-FTP which as Only World Readable fit my needs. As to my DNS edit query you mention a "domain name management console" but I do not see any ICON for this function in cPanel. How do I access it? Thanks.

I am already a user of TCH with a number of Domains but all of them were either Email-Only or Build from scratch Web Sites. I am now getting ready to migrate a Pre-Existing Web Site from another Hosting Service to TCH and a number of questions have arisen that I need to get answered prior to the move. 1) If I want to use TCH for hosting my DNS Records, how do I update the DNS Server (or do I just get some generic records with no ability to edit or tune them)? My intent is to move the DNS from the current Hosting Services to TCH's DNS or GoDaddy's DNS (The latter of which I know has full DNS Editing Capabilities). I ask about TCH Support since I can not seem to find any DNS Support in cPanel and initially want the DNS to reflect the CURRENT records (ie: Point back to the current Hosting Service) while I upload and test the TCH version of the site. I then want to be able to edit the TTLs as I get ready to swing over to TCH to allow me to minimize the Cache window where the records are still pointing at the old site once I update to point at TCH. 2) How to I set the FTP.DOMAIN-NAME Host to point at my designated Directory? The current Hosting Service has a ANONFTP directory that is where that FTP://... URL points which is a separate directory Structure from the one Pointed to via a WWW.DOMAIN-NAME HTTP://... URL. When I look at my current domains, I find a WWW link that points to the public_html directory and a public_ftp directory for incoming uploads. Do I just place the files I want to be publicly downloadable there? Thanks.

Thank you for your reply. I had feared that it was not going to be allowed. I did find a FAQ that said it was not supported but it only referenced the subdomain case NOT the alternate of pointing at a secondary directory (www.domain.TLD/directory). You might want to update the FAQ to mention this case also. As to the "Get a Reseller Account" suggestion, that is too expensive for this one-time need. I guess we will need to go with separate domains after all. BTW: I fail to see WHY you are restricting this option SO LONG AS THE DOMAINS are registered to the same organization. There is no difference, IMO, between this and having two or more Web Sites (as you allow) under ONE Domain Name.

I belong to an organization that currently has two domains (hosted by separate Hosting Services). They have appointed me to investigate consolidating the two domains at a single Hosting ISP and after I showed them your Hosting documentation and rates they want to move to TCH (where I have my own personal domains hosted). There are a few questions that need to be answered however. If possible, they would like to go with one not two hosting accounts (with the 2nd domain "Parked" over the first and sharing its Web Space and Bandwidth). OTOH, they would like the two Web Sites to appear to be separate like they are at present. IOW: They want one site to be www.domain1.org and the other to be www.domain2.org (but mapped/forwarded to either domain2.domain1.org or www.domain1.org/domain2 and "masked" so the Browsers show www.domain2.org not the real location). Since we will be Registering the Domains with GoDaddy and they offer this Forwarding/Masking capability this can THEORETICALLY be done. The First question is if this type of thing is against the AUP/TOS. Secondly, if it is permissible, do you offer this capability or will we need to have the 2nd domain (the one that will be Forwarded/Masked) supported by the GoDaddy DNS Servers so we can take advantage of their Forwarding/Masking support. Obviously if this type of thing is against the AUP/TOS, our only option is to have separate accounts for the two domains. I await a reply to this query and any advice you can offer as to how we can proceed. Thank you.

To support the new Anti-Forgery SPF records to DNS you must create TXT entries. Since all DNS maintenance seems to be being done by GUI entries in cPanel, I do not seem to have the ability to do this configuration. Is there support that I am overlooking or am I just out of luck? :Nerd: Thanks.

You are misunderstanding. I do not want/need my own SSL Certificate. What I need is a copy of TCH's so I can use SSL to talk to them. This is the same as communicating with any other site (like a HTTPS) - You need to have the Site's SSL Certificate to perform a Secure Connection.

When I try to connect to my TCH SMTP or POP3 Servers via SSL (either at the 25/110 ports or the Secure 465/995 ones) I get rejects due to not having the TCH SSL Certificate available on my system. Where do I download/acquire it so I can use SMTP/POP over SSL? Thanks.
