  1. Ok, I'vebeen mostly playing with creating various hobby sites largely through MS Frontpage. Im looking to learn more, yet keep things simple, in an effort to make the boards a little more interesting. I'd like to add the following three components to my index page and im hoping there's an easy script/php mod install to accomplish the task. I'm looking to add to my index page: 1. a News/announcement section....probably pulling from a phpbb New/announcement forum 2. A section that calls your attention to Recent topics and 3. A "Who's online" Any other suggestions of easy scripts/mod installs woyuld be greatly appreciated (along with locations). Thanks for any help you might lend. *EDIT* Would installing PHP-Nuke or Xoops (looks easier) from cp panel do much of what I'm looking for?
  2. Ok, thanks for the help! I was able to get the graphic on and it looks good. Now I'm trying to place a hyperlink so I can go back to the main website from the logo. My understanding is I need to do this by getting to the file named overall_header.tpl, then find {U_INDEX} and replace it with my homepage url. Except I'm not sure how to do that...do I open with an html editor or does the tpl extension indicate something different? Is there an easier way to add a hyperlink to the logo?
  3. Oops...meant to be more specific with phpBB. I have version 2.0.6 that comes preinstalled with the totalchoice hosting plan (love that!) Id like to get the style of the message board to more closely match my website...The easiest way to do it is replace the phpbb tent graphic with my website logo (assuming I can).
  4. I'm sifting through the php site, but can anyone point me in the right direction? I'm looking into replacing the default graphic in the upper left hand corner (the php tents). Is it hard to do?
  5. How do you go about making your messageboard searchable by google?
  6. I'm using Frontpage 2003 to design my website (at least until I really learn HTML). One of the templates I'd like to use says that Sharepoint Services must be supported by the host. What are Sharepoint Services and does TCH support them?
  7. Is there a way to tell if the domain is active short of attempting to FTP there?
  8. No problem with the move and thank you for the answer! I can't wait to start putting the site together this weekend! Thanks to everyone who has taken the time time to answer a newbies questions.

If I could ask a follow-up? I see that its also possible to install an invision board as well as the phpboard listed in cpanel. What are the differences between the two (other than it appears that php is much easier to install for a newbie (like myself)).
  10. If you don't mind my tagging onto this thread, I have a question related to subdomains. Caqn each subdomain have a separate messageboard installed through Cpanel? Also, can you delete an existing messageboard and remove the sql database that was created? I'm new here, but the layout of these forums has been an incredible resource!
