Thanks for the quick replies but I must be really stupid because it ain't working. What am i doing wrong :'( Oh i just remembered that those files no longer exist. Do I still have to have them in my folder for this to work. I deleted them because they were cluttering it all up ! edit: Ok i just re-created all my html files in case that was the problem but no it still doesn't work ! Mad!!!

So i have no choice I have to put an individual redirect for each file ? UUuugh !!

Ok I put that code into y .htaccess but it doens't work I went to http://blog.arvind-satya.com/archives/000017.html which doesn't exist anymore and I want to redirect thaat to http://blog.arvind-satya.com/archives/000017.php ! Which it didn't ! I think somewhere I'm pointing to the wrong path can you just gimme the code where I want to point it to my /home/USERNAME/public_html/blog/archives/ directory ? cos all my files are there ! Ok I'm using movable type and had generated quite a few individual archives over the course of my blogging. But after I skinned my site I switched all the archives from .html extensions to .php extentions. Is there some way to redirect all these .html extention to the same file name but with a .html extention ? ie my /blog/archives/00001.html ----> /blog/archives/00001.php ? I have over 100 pages and don't want to input one line for eahc of them in my .htaccess

I checked the help pages for password protecting folders and got amember, wow that's a lot of work just to password protect a folder, is there a simplier way e.g. thru the .htaccess?

thanks but this is slightly different. I know that backing up mysql db will backup my entries as well (i think) but this rebuild script will export all my entries for me so how do I run just that cgi script ?

Ok I've got Movable Type setup in an mt folder in my public_html in that folder I have a cgi script called rebuild which basically just exports all my entries. Now how do I setup a cron job do run that script say every 10 days ?

Yeah i hafta agree with Jim. when i first signed up with tch i anxiously awaited my welcome mail. I posted in these forums and received a warm reply telling me to sit back and relax. Two days after signingup i still had not received my message but upon sending a ticket I got the message within a few hours ! No where have I seen such a involved hosting provider. I have been hosted by geocities, tripod, netfirms, lycos but this has to be the best value for money and friendly place ! Rock Sign

phew i'm not using frontpage. I was worried partly cos my whole blog crashed but the htaccess file had stuff inside it b4 !

Help I by mistake deleted my .htaccess file and then my whole server is crashed, I estored the .htaccess file from the trash but It was empty my subdomains, movable type have crashed i keep getting an internal server error !? I've fixed it by emptying the contents of my .htaccess , is there any default in there ?

I'm a newbie at this so what wud i pu tin the htaccess if my pages were located : 404 error page www.my-domain.com/404.shtml 401 error page www.my-domain.com/401.shtml etc.. OK I figured out the stuff for the Error Document.

I've created my own error pages but how do I make them valid for my subdomain as well. If someone types an incorrect address it uses the default 404 error page not my new one !

Ok I submitted the ticket and got a reply done with all the details. But if I go to www.super-nerd.com (the domain I told them to park) I keep getting sent to my old netfirms account. Do I have to change the nameservers or anything ? BTW I had registered the account with Namesdirect but brought it over to netfirms meaning all my settings are available in namesdirect what do I do ?

The starter plan has no parked domains available do I have to upgrade or pay extra ? Crap that sux oh and I thought all cpanels were supposed 2 be v 7 but I'm on server 34 but when i launch cpanel the title of the iexplore window says cpanel 6

I'm on the starter plan for $4 per month how many parked and addon domains can I have ? Also do parked and addon domains work in the same way as the main one I mean as do I have to pay for each parked/addon domain ?

Oh Crap I've messed up I signed up for domain name http://www.arvind-satya.com but in my welcome mail it has come as http://www.arvindsatya.com will I have to sign up a new domain or can some1 plz. correct/transfer it ! Oh and thanks Head Guru for removing all my personal info !
