  1. Thanks for your suggestions! I, too, migrated from blogger to WP. I was doing fine up until the upgrade from 2.7 to 2.7.1. My dashboard doesn't toggle anything at all, especially tags. Something got messed up somehow, but I am not sure what. Everything was fine till that upgrade. In fact, I didn't know anything was wrong at all till I tried to upgrade using WP's self-upgrade feature, which should have gone smoothly, but didn't work. Then everything else got messed up once I tried upgrading manually. I don't think I will need to create a CNAME unless I start using blogger. I just did not want to buy hosting and a domain name through Blogger/Google when I already have that here. I might be okay if I could get one of my WP folders deleted so I could just start all over with WP, but I go through something similar about every or every other upgrade. It's just not worth the trouble. I probably can't migrate back to blogger, but I can copy/past entries if need be. Thanks so much, everyone, for your help!
  2. Thanks for the welcome, and thanks so much for your reply! I guess I should clarify: I am not sure it's a fantastico issue, but a WP one. I have tried manually installing as well, BEFORE trying to delete and get it done through Fantastico. I can go back and manually re-install, but I'll likely still get the wonky dashboard, which I have gotten every time I made the upgrade from 2.7 to 2.7.1. That, I know, would need to be taken to WP's support forums. I mainly wondered if there was a simple way I could continue to use my hosting and domain name here and just use a newer blogger layout. I will open a support ticket later today and see if I can get all traces of WP wiped, then re-installed. If that doesn't work, maybe they can help me with the CNAME stuff so I can at least use Blogger from here on out. I just wondered if it had been done before.
  3. To make a very long story short, I have had my domain since December of 2007, and have had my hosting here, where I've been using self-hosted wordpress as my blog/website's publishing platform. Unlike most people, who LOVE wordpress, it seems like I have had nothing but trouble with it since day 1. Now with this latest upgrade from 2.7 to 2.7.1, I lost the ability to do a lot of things via my dashboard. (No toggling, backup option gone from tools, no way to switch from HTML to visual editor) No amount of deleting and reinstalling has made a difference. I finally have attempted to delete ALL traces of wordpress from my account here, and just try to install it with fantastico. As of right now, my wp-content folder refuses to delete, and fantastico is telling me I can not install more than one script in the root directory of a domain. At this point, I'd really like to just be able to go transfer my entries back to blogger, but keep my domain name and the post urls as close as possible to what they are now (if I haven't lost everything - I do back up, but my computer will not open the database backup files). Can this be done here? My domain name is registered through TCH as well. I'd like to be able to use blogger's 'layouts' instead of Classic templates, but their site says something about creating a CNAME and having dns servers point to google, and several other things I don't understand. I did a search for this, but it came up empty. In the meantime, my blog is GONE because WP will not install either manually or with Fantastico de luxe. I really need to get it back up somehow, if possible. And if I can't get WP running right, I will obviously need to get my blog to some kind of platform that I can actually use. Can anyone help? Thanks so much for listening
