To make a very long story short, I have had my domain since December of 2007, and have had my hosting here, where I've been using self-hosted wordpress as my blog/website's publishing platform.
Unlike most people, who LOVE wordpress, it seems like I have had nothing but trouble with it since day 1. Now with this latest upgrade from 2.7 to 2.7.1, I lost the ability to do a lot of things via my dashboard. (No toggling, backup option gone from tools, no way to switch from HTML to visual editor) No amount of deleting and reinstalling has made a difference. I finally have attempted to delete ALL traces of wordpress from my account here, and just try to install it with fantastico. As of right now, my wp-content folder refuses to delete, and fantastico is telling me I can not install more than one script in the root directory of a domain.
At this point, I'd really like to just be able to go transfer my entries back to blogger, but keep my domain name and the post urls as close as possible to what they are now (if I haven't lost everything - I do back up, but my computer will not open the database backup files). Can this be done here? My domain name is registered through TCH as well. I'd like to be able to use blogger's 'layouts' instead of Classic templates, but their site says something about creating a CNAME and having dns servers point to google, and several other things I don't understand.
I did a search for this, but it came up empty.
In the meantime, my blog is GONE because WP will not install either manually or with Fantastico de luxe. I really need to get it back up somehow, if possible. And if I can't get WP running right, I will obviously need to get my blog to some kind of platform that I can actually use.
Can anyone help? Thanks so much for listening
