hi all, just to say we've had the same problem with acdsee but not with emailed jpegs. we had photos given to us on a dvd, windows fax viewer was the only prog out of acdsee, irfanview and nero photo viewer that would open them. but, and here's the weird part, when we tried to open them with acdsee on another pc, it opened them fine. we had the same version (9) of acdsee on both pcs.
here's the even weirder part tho... on the pc that wouldn't open them with anything but windows fax viewer, we opened one photo with windows fax viewer and saved it to the c drive using windows fax viewer. it then opened fine with acdsee. however, when we tried to copy the whole folder from the dvd to the desktop, the photos wouldn't open. we've admitted defeat so far and are now taking each individual photo, opening it in windows fax viewer, saving it, then opening with acdsee. (the other pc doesn't have a cd burner and we need the photos on cds).
if anyone gets to the bottom of this, kindly let us know!
