azracer Posted April 12, 2004 Posted April 12, 2004 I Currently have one hosting plan through TCH and love it . I have another site that uses a content mangagement system "postnuke" operating the intire sites memberships and forums off of a database . I want to do a site transfer over to TCH and my questions are.... 1. Will I lose all my databases when doing the site transfer ? 2. How can I tell how much bandwidth I will need ? ...its a very busy site . An Average of 3500 pageviews per day . Thanks in advance ! Miles Quote
LisaJill Posted April 12, 2004 Posted April 12, 2004 This second site, with postnuke, is at another provider? About the database: When moving your database what you would want to do i take an export of the database (easiest way I know to do this is via phpmyadmin) and then import that database here, install postnuke (without running the database installer) make sure paths/id's/passwords all match and theoretically, it should work. I've done this with other systems but not postnuke specifically. About bandwidth: What you would need to do is analyze your log files; at tch this is done very easily via cpanel and AWStats. I'm not sure what set up you have for your other site so I can't see it. Does that help to answer your questions? Let us know if you have more or need clarification! Quote
azracer Posted April 12, 2004 Author Posted April 12, 2004 Thank you for the fast response. Yes that about covers it for me ...sounds like tons of fun in store for me LOL. I'll check on my bandwidth usage and go from there ! My other provider had to place me on my own IP due to bandwidth issues...If I go over your biggest plans 35 gb....will I be forced into a bigger plan or may I purchase additional bandwidth by the gb ? Thanks...and that should be all for the questions Az Quote
LisaJill Posted April 12, 2004 Posted April 12, 2004 35 gig is not actually the biggest plan, you can get a semi or dedicated server (details). But yes, you can purchase more bandwidth, you'll see the prices at the bottom of the web hosting page, it is currently 1GB = $2.50/Monthly. But you would want to keep a close eye on this, as I believe if you go over you may get suspended, you would want to purchase the additional bandwidth prior to reaching your limit. =) Does that help? azracer Posted April 12, 2004 Author Posted April 12, 2004 Perfect.......Thanks so much for the speedy responses ....you guys are the best!!! Quote
ThumpAZ Posted April 13, 2004 Posted April 13, 2004 Just a quick note on the overages and possibly suspended account: You will receive an email when your account reaches 80% of alloted BW for the month. At this time you are able to contact billing/support and get the BW increased at the going rate ($2.50/Gig). 80% should give you plenty of time to get things taken care of. Also, if you are still unsure after looking at previous logs, take out an account you feel should be enough, and keep an eye on it. If you see it getting close, you can purchase more BW. If it starts to become a constant thing, just look at the next level of service and see if it is going to be less in the long run. Good Luck Quote
