I bought my domain at YYWEB. I bought three years and have two remaining. They have a largley automated system. I had some problems with my A record a while ago. When I finally got a hold of a real human, I had him change management of my DNS records to a site called zone edit. I can change the records but to change the DNS servers I would have to deal with YYWEB. What do I need to do to point my records to the TCH servers. I have My domain redirected and it works. My sub domains don't work. I don't know where to point my MX record. How do I set up a work around?

As I understand the process... When you query your ISP's name server for an address, and it is not in it's cache, the server goes to a root domain server for an address of the name server that holds the domain's A record. In the case of domain that is being serviced by TCH it would be the two servers that you posted. The only one who can change the records in the root domain server is the lisenced registrar that "owns" it. You might own your domain but the company that you bought it from owns the record. (Wich is why you need to transfer your account to TCH when you first started hosting here) In my case, I have the root servers pointing to a third party DNS server. I have controll of my A, MX, ALL, etc. DNS records. I set it up that way because the registrar who sold me the domain is very slow with his account maintenance. What I need to know is what is contained in the record for my domain in the servers you mentioned. I have requested to have my domain transfered to the TCH servers but it probably won't get done for quite a while. In the mean time I am looking to implement a work around. I am an ebayer and I can't afford to have my email go dead for any period of time.

I purchased my domain names from GoDaddy and I didn't transfer them to TCH when I signed up. All I did was log into my GoDaddy account and change the name servers to NS1.TOTALCHOICEHOSTING.COM and NS2.TOTALCHOICEHOSTING.COM.

When you register with TCH they give you an IP address, they need to know the domain name you are using to update the two domain servers to resolve the domain name to the IP number given to you when you signed up. This is how the shared hosting works. Someone else would have to tell you what was involved with a reseller account.

my problem is I can't just go to the site I originaly bought the domain from and just change the ns1 and ns2 servers. That site is mainly automated and changes that take controll away from them have to be manually edited. They don't have a phone number listed and they don't answer emails. I have gone to the server and changed the ns1 and ns2 servers but the last time I did that it took 6 weeks for the changes to take place. when I did have it changed I changed to zone edit. At zone edit I have complete controll over my records. I need to know where to point them. for example, in TCH ns1 and ns2 records is an address that points to an "IP address/username/public-HTM" for a request for **** I know what this is so I set it up in my A record. I can deal with a "subdomain.****" entry also. What I don't know is how to deal with is the MX record. I need to set where "mail.****" goes. What is the path to the pop3 services for the server handeling my domain. With that information I can set up a workaround untill my ns1 and ns2 pointers get changed. BTW my domain is Lambelectronics.com.
