mustang Posted February 26, 2003 Posted February 26, 2003 Before my site had propogated, I had added a counter and it seemed to work ok. The steps I took were: From Cpanel: 1) CGI Scripts 2) Counter 3) Entered my choices of design, then clicked: make html 4) copied the text and placed in my Index file 5) Checked the site using IP address 6) Seemed OK After I could access the site via www address, I get the following error code in the counter window: Could not write to counter file: /var/cpanel/counters/pickles.dat Help.... shammer Posted February 26, 2003 Posted February 26, 2003 I just had this one earlier today. Go into the counter code and delete this >.dat and it will work. Quote
mustang Posted February 27, 2003 Author Posted February 27, 2003 shammer... Thanks, works 4.0. Is there a short, simple explanation why this made it work?? Quote
shammer Posted February 27, 2003 Posted February 27, 2003 Not that I know of, it is odd, if you go to your site using http://ipaddress/~username your counter will not work, but using the domain will work. It is now the exact opposite of how it worked before you removed that .dat. Quote
