Phpbb Admin Problem

Hi,

installed phpbb on one of my site, install gave results that iam not able to access the /admin/ section of the board, sometimes it shows up but a 404 error occurs on login, getting very difficult to administer the forum.

 

Now the forum has few posts by users so i don't want them to be lost.

Do you have a url for the forums?

 

Also, how are you accessing the admin panel? You should be using the link at the bottom of the forums that shows up if you're logged in with admin level privelidges.

 

Also, have you done any customization/ever gotten that far?

 

I'm also a little confused as to where you're getting the 404, and what exact steps you're taking. If you can clarify a bit it will help to troubleshoot it. =)

yes ofcourse, i did that only after the domain was active. Infact it was already on TCH for weeks before i tried to installl the Phpbb thing.

 

Yeah i did customization for the forum, infact iam currently on localization of phpbb to hindi, but thats a different thing. This never happened to me earlier.

 

When iam requested to login under under "forum/admin/" i am getting this 404 thing.

on my other installations i never saw such errors.

Is this when you go there in a browser?

 

Have you set up a user id and password via webprotect, or directly edditng .htaccess/.htpasswd for the forum/admin directory, and are possibly entering the wrong details?

 

Also, you didn't supply a url to the forums so it's a bit hard for me to see whats going on. =)

ya i did setup the user ID, its more over seems to be a problem with forum pages than to be just a Login issue.

Manu, I just installed a phpbb forum myself, and I'm wondering, how do you change the image to your own from the default phpbb image?

The quick answer, there is a file in the templates/subsilver directory of phpbb, called something like oinline_header.tmpl (it's been a long time, look for something with header in the file name)

 

That has the banner image in it, you need to change it. If I can make a suggestion - make sure you choose a skin FIRST then deal with that, because otherwise you'll do this multiple times.

 

Of course, if you're going to allow your users to choose skins, including subsilver, you'll have to do this multiple times anyway. =)

The filename is overall_header.tpl in the templates/subSilver folder and you want to look for the section with the image file named logo_phpBB.gif.

 

That image is located in your templates/subSilver/images/ folder.
