Gmaper Posted December 29, 2003 Posted December 29, 2003 I am a very small reseller (2 clients who operate quilt shops) and with my current hosting company one of my clients was suspended because their use of the cPanel provided mailman software violated the AUP. This violation occurred because the customer's one mailing list, used as a one-way list with about 5 posts to the list per month, has 370 members. When mailman sent a message to these 370 members it violated the AUP because it sent more than 100 emails in 10 minutes (but not more than the limit of 1000 per day) and it may or may not have violated the AUP about amount of CPU that can be used by an application program. My question is would this use of mailman violate the TCH AUP? So far as I know there is no way for me to regulate the timing of the sending of emails by the mailman software. Does TCH offer an alternate program with functionality similar to mailman? TIA for your response. TCH appears to be an excellent provider. Quote
TCH-Dick Posted December 29, 2003 Posted December 29, 2003 Our AUP doesnt say anything about a limit for sent mail, so you couldnt be suspended for it. However, our mail servers DO limit accounts to sending certain amounts of emails. For specific details please drop me a email and I can explain. Mailman doesnt have an option for sending a set amount of e-mails over a set time (not that I have found anyway) I use Dada on my site and it works GREAT! http://mojo.skazat.com/ You can specify the amount of mail to be sent over a set amount of time and its easy to set up and install.
