Dada Mail Discussion List...possible?

Hi,

 

I'm trying to get a list going that will allow me to send emails from a php script directly to the list. On the recommendations of users in this forum and out, I'm looking into dada mail first.

 

The trick is, with dada mail, in order to be able to send a message to the list from

outside the dada web interface, you have to set up a separate script called dada_send.pl

 

Some of dada's programmer's admonitions about trying to do so (from the dada_send.pl installation page) include:

 

Before you go right into all of this, it might be a good idea to ask your system administrator if this is actually possible. You need to ask them if you are able to set up email addresses that alias to a file. You may not be able to.

and

 

If you do not have root access, these instructions will not work.

(for configuring sendmail to allow dada_send.pl to work).

 

It would seem impossible to have a php script mail() something to dada_send.pl with totalchoice, given that there's no root access. Is that true?

Sorry for not finding before I posted; I had been looking for dada_send.pl, forgetting that it used to be called mojo_send.pl

 

Anyway, for anyone who comes across this topic using dada_send.pl, the short answer is, unless you have dedicated hosting and SSH access, you can't use dada_send.pl.
